Many of us got to know and fell in love with Kino as a Pentagon member. But now, Kino is exploring music on his own with his one-man agency, NAKED. And this is Kino’s official first mini-album! Kino is one of the minds behind many of the masterpieces Pentagon gave us, as well as an all-rounder. He also released his first solo song, ‘Pose,’ in 2022, and we’re still obsessed with it. So, of course, we were looking forward to seeing more of his vision as a solo artist. Filled with hip-hop influence and catchy hooks, If this is love, I want a refund did not let us down!
‘Broke My Heart’
With this mini-album, Kino tells us a story, and it all starts with heartbreak. The release’s opening track and title track, ‘Broke My Heart,’ explores the pain of the end of a relationship, when you’re left wondering why the relationship ended and you have no option but to blame the other person. Despite its sad theme, ‘Broke My Heart’ is vibey, sweet, and addictive. Kino teamed up with Lay Bankz for this song and her verse adds so much dynamism, making the song even more special. ‘Broke My Heart’ is truly a song we could listen to for hours on end!
If this is love, I want a refund
Kino’s story does not end with heartbreak. He takes his first mini-album as a way to explore different facets of love, and we love every single one of them!
‘Solo’
‘Solo’ explores the end of a relationship, but in a very different way than ‘Broke My Heart.’ While the title track shows the negative emotions of a break-up, this track is more about choosing to end the relationship because it is the best option for both parties. ‘Solo’ has a positive outlook on breaking up and wishing the other person well. With its hip-hop and dance influence, the song feels carefree and bright. And Kino is a dancer, he dances – so of course, what makes us the most obsessed with this song is the performance video!
‘Freaky Love’
The real love song in this mini-album is ‘Freaky Love,’ but with a twist. The pre-release single explores the feelings of falling head over heels with someone you barely know. It’s fun, witty, cheeky, unique, and a song that gets stuck in your head – and that’s exactly where you want it.
‘Valentine’
‘Valentine’ is a real gem in this release. This song has a more laid-back vibe, which makes it stand out. With its sad and nostalgic yet hopeful vibe, ‘Valentine’ brings a unique energy to the mini-album, and Kino‘s vocals and lyricism truly shine through on this track. With ‘Solo,’ Kino showed off his dancing skills, and with ‘Valentine,’ he gave us a beautiful live clip. He’s an all-rounder, after all!
‘Fashion Style’
‘Fashion Style’ may be the closing track in If this is love, I want a refund, but it was the first song we heard from Kino’s debut mini-album. The pre-release track is about finding beauty in life and falling for someone. While the mini-album starts with a heartbreak, Kino eventually finds beauty in love again. With only five tracks, Kino is able to tell us a story and introduce himself as a soloist to the world. If this is love, I want a refund is a massive stepping stone in Kino‘s career, and we’re so happy to be here to see it happening!
