Rise up, the kings are back, and they are reigning over their latest comeback! We are so excited that REALIZE dropped as it marks the group’s very first release under their new name, The KingDom. This comeback diverts from the sound and concept we are used to, entering a different chapter for the seven kings.
As soon as we saw the first teasers, we started wondering if REALIZE would present a separate story entirely or if it would still be connected to the previous arc. The answer? The lore continues, and we are buzzing over the occurrences in ‘Flip that Coin’ and what will follow.
‘Flip that Coin’ Into The World Of The KingDom
If you’re a fan of The KingDom, chances are you’ve been theorizing about how the History of Kingdom parts are connected to REALIZE. We have rewatched ‘Flip that Coin’ to catch onto any lore that we might have missed during our first go at the music video. Honesty time: we were half distracted by the song, visuals, and choreography. Once again, The KingDom’s latest title track hits hard and yet carries a different atmosphere to its predecessors.
Looking at the music video, the seven kings lose their royal attire to modern-day outfits as they enter a world different from the one they know. While we may miss their epic concepts, let’s face it: these guys will look good in anything. And you know what else steals the spotlight? The coin! Yes, it’s in the title and, naturally, the main subject of the story happening here.
The members are in a new place, their pasts forgotten, and the key to remembering seems to be connected to the coin that is being tossed around. We are pretty certain we get to witness Louis being hit with a wave of his memories during the encounter with his hooded self. And he doesn’t seem to be the only one, or are we reading too much into this? So, can we consider that the flip of a coin would bring the kings face to face with the part of themselves that will unlock what has been forgotten? And what do we make of that scene at the end? While we have our theories, we also have plenty of questions. We will simply be anticipating the next story video that The KingDom will drop (yes, we know, they just released this one, but we are hungry for that lore!)
We sure are taken by the developments in the clip, but we are not forgetting the song itself. ‘Flip that Coin’ highlights the stance the members take. No matter what the future awaits, they are ready to face it all together. That message is also one we simply can’t help but stand behind. Taking the step forward can be hard, but we are ready to take their advice and throw all the fear away, and take our chances. Of course, while playing their music as our main theme.
B-Side Recs
When it comes to The KingDom, we are used to getting a variety of songs in their albums. REALIZE continues that trend and delivers an experience. Since we like highlighting things here at THP, let us bring forth two of our favorite B-sides from this release.
First, we will mention ‘GUNDAM,’ which won us with its addictive beats and chorus. It’s an upbeat track that is stuck in our heads, and we are ready to groove to the rhythm as soon as it comes up on our playlists (or, you know, as soon as we play it ourselves because, of course, we do.)
We really want to put ‘BEST THING’ on your radars, as well. We are in love with the lyric, “The best thing about me is you.” This song gives off bright and uplifting vibes, and who doesn’t love a little light in their lives? Certainly, you’ll end up smiling after listening to this rack.
We are curious to hear your thoughts on The KingDom’s latest mini-album REALIZE. Hop over to @thehoneypop or to our Facebook and Instagram, and tell us what you think of the new concept. Want to talk lore? We’ll be ready to discuss.
If you’re in need of more K-Pop, THP has you covered.
