We can’t truly kick off summer without some new music from NewJeans, and luckily, they’re treating us just in time! Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein are back with two new songs, ‘How Sweet’ and ‘Bubble Gum,’ and you’re destined to love both. These tracks are perfect for the warmer weather, so we’ll be blasting them constantly until further notice.

‘Bubble Gum’
We’ll start off by talking about ‘Bubble Gum,’ since it was this comeback’s pre-release single back in April! Right from the intro, it reminded us of the refreshing feel of ‘Ditto’ with a bit more of a hopeful, upbeat energy. It’s an adorable love song comparing a partner’s sweetness to bubble gum, offering so many cute lyrics that would make the perfect Instagram captions for any summer dates you’re going on. And can we gush about those beautiful vocals on the chorus? Amazing!

‘How Sweet’
Next, let’s discuss ‘How Sweet!’ We can’t lie, this might already be one of our fave NewJeans songs, and we’re stoked that it’s their longest title track to date. It’s a bouncy anthem about coming to realize that you deserve more in a relationship than your partner is giving you, which is such an important topic. The girls celebrate how sweet their freedom “tastes now that [they’re] without” their ex, and they’ll make you instantly wanna dance and sing along!
NewJeans also released a fun music video for the track, and we love the fun details and clever camera shots they added. The first shots come from the perspective of a dog, which you can see by its nose at the bottom of the frame. Another creative scene zooms in on a lizard’s mouth before diving into colorful animations that bring us to a performance scene. As a truck with cows passes the girls in the road, you see each of them from inside that truck, as if you’re sitting between the cows.
