Okay, look, we know you will be getting a lot of tracks to add to your Pride Playlists thrown at you this upcoming month, but we think these songs should be the first ones you add. Not only are they by Queer artists, but they are also newer artists that we think you should definitely be checking out. And we’re not going to gatekeep these artists to ourselves, so you’re welcome in advance.
Heather Mae – ‘Kissing Girls’

Opening up, we want to introduce our first queer artist, Heather Mae. Heather’s newest track ‘Kissing Girls’ holds a special place in this writer’s heart as the track is “a bisexual love song for people who have loved or been loved by someone who was transgender. We deserve to hear our love songs on the radio, too.,” which we are very familiar with. As we all know, there aren’t many tracks that have representation like Heather talks about. Heather is not a stranger to wanting representation in music; in 2023, she gathered amazing women and nonbinary music makers to make two beautiful albums showcasing everyone’s talents. So ‘Kissing Girls’ and her amazing vocals make the perfect track to add to your upcoming playlists.

Lava La Rue – ‘Push N Shuv’

To say Lava La Rue is an interesting individual is an understatement. They have been making moves since they were a teenager, writing music since they were 16, and had a hit track, ‘Widdit,’ which gained them an impressive amount of streams, and y’all ever since then, they’ve only gone up. Now we have their upcoming album, STARFACE, out July 19th to look forward to! The album follows an alien’s arrival on Earth as they experience human relationships. We are looking forward to checking out the album, and honestly, you should be, too. But for right now, we recommend you add ‘Push N Shuv’ to your playlists as it plays a pivotal role to STARFACE, and Lava deserves all the love.

Chloe Star – ‘before i met your mother’

Chloe Star is a star, as her name states, she has such an interesting deep voice that really puts the “a” in angsty. Like Heather, Chloe is no stranger to representation as not only is she is a supporter of women’s empowerment, but she also a tribal advocate. She recently released her EP, the bed i lie in – its tracklist is small but there are so many good songs on the EP. Our favorite has to be ‘before i met your mother.’ It really has all the emotion you need in a song, and we absolutely love the beginning. She is an Indigenous queer artist and most definitely deserves you adding the bed i lie in tracks to your playlists.

Katy Kirby – ‘Headlights’

To end our list, we have Katy Kirby, and much like the others on this list, she is an amazing songwriter and is well-known for it. Katy recently released Blue Raspberry, and y’all, her songwriting abilities really showed through on this project, which by the way, is filled with queer romance stories; you’ll definitely love it because we did! Now she is set to release Blue Raspberry Deluxe, which will be out July 12th, and we’ll be getting two new tracks. But before we get too ahead of ourselves, please add her newest track, ‘Headlights,’ to your playlists, especially if you love ballads of things that happen in your everyday lives.
