Have you met The Vamps before? Because we certainly have! We’ve been vibing with the pop band for a decade now, and we’re not stopping any time soon. Now, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut album, Meet The Vamps, the group is heading back out on tour to play the album in its full glory. And we got to interview The Vamps and talk all about it!
The Meet The Vamps Anniversary Tour kicks off in September, and we got to chat with the guys about all the details and the all-important setlist! Meet The Vamps is an album close to a lot of their fans’ hearts (ours included!), so we cannot wait to see how they revamp (sorry) all these tracks. From their past to what is yet to come in the future, we discussed it all with The Vamps in this interview. So we won’t keep you waiting any longer!
The Vamps x THP Exclusive Interview
Hi guys! Huge congratulations on ten years of Meet The Vamps! What does this album mean to you?
This album is very special to us. It was an album we made when we were around 16/17 years old and it was the first thing that connected us with the fans… it took us all around the world! We have never played it in full live and we’re going play all the songs from ‘On The Floor’ to ‘Dangerous,’ and we can’t wait to bring that music to a live setting. See you there!
We’ll be honest and confess we’re massive ‘Smile’ fans, but which Meet The Vamps track are you guys most excited to perform on tour later this year?
Thank you for the kind words on ‘Smile,’ that was a fun one to record. Tristan is the blues man and that is in fact him at the start on the recording. I think one other song that we’re really looking forward to playing is ‘Dangerous’ – that one feels like it’s gonna cater really well to a live setting. There’s a part in the bridge that we wanna get all the fans involved singing back to us – a proper crowd sing-along.
How do you guys go about choosing a tour setlist? Are there any surprises we should keep an eye out for?
When deciding what to play on tour, we tend to think about the songs that will sound great, but also make sure that we play songs that people will know. For this tour, it’s going to be slightly different because we’re going to play Meet The Vamps in full for the first time ever, but we will also be including a couple of our other songs.

You’ve had some major career highlights over the last decade plus! What are some moments that stick out to each of you?
So one of our favorite memories of The Vamps was back in the day around Meet The Vamps and we were recording the ‘Hurricane’ video! We did it in Los Angeles and we basically had this nice house with a pool and we were just playing around, playing music and having a really good time. Yeah that’s weirdly one highlight, but there are so many!
Meet The Vamps probably has a lot of nostalgia attached to it for long-term fans! What albums or artists make you nostalgic?
Tristan – Enema of the State – Blink 182
Bradley – Songs for the Deaf – Queens of the Stone Age
James – Inside In/Inside Out – The Kooks
Of course, a lot has changed in the last ten years! Do you think you still have the same mindset as you did back then or has it shifted? If so, how would you sum up your group ethos now?
I think so much has changed in the last 10 years, but we’ve always kept the focus towards making the best music we possibly can! It’s so easy to get caught up in the busy lifestyle and traveling, but we’ve always been working towards the same end goal and we want to keep that going until we’re old and grey!
What message would you like to share with fans who have followed you since the original Meet The Vamps? (us included – we genuinely attended the Meet The Vamps Tour in 2014 and have stuck around ever since!)
Thank you so so much, it’s been an incredible 10 years for us and that’s not only because of getting to do shows and release music, it’s seeing our fans grow up with us. It’s really felt like we’ve all been going through life together! Seeing fans who have been there from album one, all the way until now’s a really special thing. So again thank you and we love you.
And what would you like newer fans, who are perhaps experiencing this album’s era for the first time, to take away from it?
We want them to hear the songs that we recorded when we were 16/17 years old in a new light. It’s always interesting to see how other artists reinterpret their old songs for live or later in their career and it’s something we’ve always wanted to do. So we’d love them to take away the sound and how it’s been influenced by our live show and hopefully it makes them want to come along to a show!
Lastly, what have you, as a group and individually, got coming up for the rest of the year?
We have the tour which we are so, so excited about and then a couple of summer shows, and who knows what else is on the horizon, you’ll have to wait and see – watch this space!
We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled then! Thanks so much to The Vamps for chatting with us! We can’t wait to see you on the Meet The Vamps Anniversary Tour!
Are you heading to a show? Don’t forget to grab your tickets here when they go on sale on Friday at 9am BST!
What did you think of our interview with The Vamps? Is there a particular track you can’t wait to see revamped (sorry again) on the tour? Let us know your thoughts over on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook!
