5 Connor Ball Covers You Need To Hear If You Love The Vamps

For over a decade now, we’ve had the shining star that is Connor Ball to look up to and to soundtrack our lives! From The Vamps to The Lunar Year, Connor is constantly giving us incredible music that lives in our minds and on our playlists rent-free. But even beyond his own work, Connor has delivered amazing covers that deserve just as much recognition! Here are just a few of our favorites to get you started, and if you’re not a fan already, we know they can convince you.

‘Young Volcanoes’

First, we’re throwing it back to the ‘Somebody To You’ era with Connor’s version of ‘Young Volcanoes’ by Fall Out Boy! Filmed by a pretty river, this cover showcased his vocals so well and gave us one of our first tastes of the pop-punk energy Con would later bring to The Lunar Year. Plus, choosing this underrated Save Rock And Roll track proved what great taste he has.

Greatest Pop-Punk Songs Ever

Mashing up two songs can be daunting for anyone, but if you’re Connor Ball, you put together 20 in one epic medley with Drew Dirksen, who you may know from his time touring with The Vamps as part of The Tide. Con and Drew teamed up for an intercontinental cover including songs from the likes of Jimmy Eat World, Good Charlotte, and My Chemical Romance, and every moment absolutely wowed us.

And as a little bonus, they gave us a second part featuring artists like As It Is, You Me At Six, and Blink-182 – the latter is especially satisfying knowing he got to work with none other than Mark Hoppus on The Lunar Year’s ‘Hey! Wait!’ It’s what he deserves, truly.

‘The Judge (is a lil Stressed Out)’

Can you tell we love a good mashup? This one is definitely one of our faves – not only because it brings together two iconic Twenty One Pilots songs, but also because Connor dressed up like his Vamps bandmates while playing their respective instruments! His outfits were spot-on and every aspect of this cover stole our hearts.

‘Someone You Loved’

After doing a mini-cover of this Lewis Capaldi song on TikTok, Connor treated us to a full version that was definitely worth the wait! ‘Someone You Loved’ always manages to tear our hearts out, but it was so interesting to see Con lean into the frustration of the song with his rock-fueled take on it. If Lewis’ version is perfect for a late-night cry session, then Connor’s version is perfect for when you start seeing just how poorly that person treated you and realize you deserve worlds better.

‘A Thousand Years’

Con’s version of ‘Someone You Loved’ might not be a cry session, necessarily, but this final cover is. Certain versions of The Vamps’ Wild Heart EP came with this emotive Christina Perri cover by Connor and James McVey, and we officially got it on streaming services last year as part of the band’s 10th-anniversary celebration. Something about hearing this cover nearly a decade ago and then getting to revisit it after watching the boys grow so much pulls at our heartstrings!
