There’s a lot of struggle in this world. For a lot of us, the uphill battles can be treacherous. If you’re anything like us, you turn to music a lot. It can soothe the soul, and the messages in the lyrics can provide a lot of comfort and reassurance. Songs can help unite us and help us believe that we are not alone in what we go through. Today, we’ll explore the meaning behind the new single by YUNGBLUD, ‘Breakdown,’ and the important message within.

’Breakdown’ is one of YUNGBLUD’s most personal releases to date, and it explores themes surrounding depression, so please know that before you read ahead. 

This song was born from a poem he wrote during the last year, where he struggled with his mental health more than ever before.

I wrote this song because it’s been the hardest year for me mentally. I feel myself changing and throughout my life I’ve never felt good enough. It’s been the main thing that on the one hand has driven me forward but on the other, has eaten me up. For as long as I can remember, I have felt constantly afraid of how quickly my head can turn dark.

Everyone Needs To Help One Another

The meaning behind YUNGBLUD’s ‘Breakdown’ is that we must remember that we are not alone in how we feel. A lot of us may face challenges in our lives that will bring us to the brink of depression or worse. But we don’t have to battle the scary realities and situations that life throws our way alone. 

It’s about getting out of your head and noticing the world around you, the things, and the people. Connect with them, the chances are they probably feel the same. Don’t let the bullsh*t inside your head consume you. It just wastes precious time and life potential.

The world continues to turn, and we continue to walk this planet together. YUNGBLUD has teamed up with two mental health organizations, Sound Mind in the US and Mind in the UK, and will donate $1 to each for every use of the ‘Breakdown’ CapCut template.

Our theory is that the message at the end of ‘Breakdown’ is a nod to our existence in a vast universe. Without us, would everything actually exist? Are we what keeps everything in motion? Maybe we are the most important thing in the universe.

Perhaps that’s something that we should move forward with. Not only should we remember how incredible it is that we are alive and here in the first place, but we should also relish that idea. Maybe that’s exactly what YUNGBLUD wanted us to think about with that moment at the end of the ‘Breakdown’ music video.
