Our Algorithm Is Working Overtime Playing Lucky Daye

It must be our lucky day. The man with the most luck, Lucky Daye, dropped some new hits so we went straight to Spotify to listen to the album in full. If you are a fan of Frank Ocean, Bruno Mars, or John Legend, then you’ll love Lucky’s music! He’s got the perfect blend of groovy R&B sounds that we love Legend and Mars for as well as the beautiful lyricism and poetic relatability that is known from Ocean. Check all your boxes? Lucky Daye might just be that new musician you’ve been searching for all year.

Here are our favorite tracks from Daye’s latest drop, Algorithm, and why your algorithm (like ours) should be full of Daye’s music.

‘Paralyzed (feat. RAYE)’

Whenever we see RAYE’s name, we immediately press play. There is simply no time to waste, and now that she is collaborating with Lucky, we know the music industry is going to turn on its head. These are two incredible artists who value storytelling, production, and the integrity of their art. You can hear it in the music, which is all the confirmation we need to add Lucky to our current playlists.

‘Paralyzed’ is for the girlies who feel stuck in their romantic relationships. Maybe you’re with the wrong one, or maybe you’re struggling to put yourself out there to find “the one.” Either way, you’re feeling paralyzed and stuck in life – your mind is saying one thing while your heart is saying another. Maybe listening to Lucky’s music will help you find that clarity you are searching for, honeybee.

‘Blame (feat. Teddy Swims)’

Another amazing feature on Algorithm comes with Teddy Swims. This choice of feature was surprising to us, but ‘Blame (feat. Teddy Swims)’ turned out to be one of our favorites! Both Lucky and Teddy find their own unique groove within the melody that is literally impossible to turn off. Hearing this song with the two of them live would probably heal something in us.

‘Think Different’

Stuck in the same rut of the same songs on rotation? Well, it’s time to ‘Think Different.’ This song will make you change your mind about everything you know about music and about Lucky. If this song proves anything, it’s that Lucky can take any genre, bend it, and mold it into something new.

‘HERicane’

We love a good play on words… the album’s second track is nothing but a hurricane of emotions. Have you ever been in a relationship that makes you feel like you are being tossed around in the wind? One minute you are deeply in love and the next you are struggling to stay afloat. Love can be a hurricane of emotions, and Lucky perfectly captures each one in ‘HERicane.’

We immediately fell in love with this song when we first heard it, and it made us so excited to see how the rest of the album plays out. It has over five million streams on Spotify, so you already know it’s a hit!

‘Soft’

If you thought this song was going to be a soft ballad, you were wrong. ‘Soft’ has to be our favorite track on the album and when we saw that it was over five minutes long, we gasped.

It reminds us of Billie Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, in how the song makes us want to cry one second, and in the other, we are dancing in our bedroom. Our brain doesn’t know how to process it, but that’s okay, it’s on a consistent loop anyway.
