Any day we get to give you guys recommendations on what songs should appear on your playlists is a good day! This week, we have some incredible artists who are putting out top-tier records,. From Katie Gavin to Emily James, its a stacked list!
Katie Gavin – ‘Aftertaste’
Starting this round-up with the debut solo single from Katie Gavin couldn’t be a better way to go! We are MUNA stans through and through. And seeing someone who we’ve loved in that realm for years be able to express themselves individually is something so beautiful. ‘Aftertaste’ is off of Katie’s upcoming debut album, What A Relief, which has been a labor of love, and we feel it will really shine light on what an incredible all-around talent Katie is. Even though we haven’t yet heard the album, if ‘Aftertaste’ is a true taste of what’s to come, this album is going to be one of our favorites of the year.

Kirsty Grant – ‘Jupiter’
If you’re looking for a song to make you feel like you’re on top of the world and at your best, ‘Jupiter’ is for you! ‘Jupiter’ instantly had us channeling main character energy and made us want to dance around any and every room that is at our disposal. With Kirsty Grant, we truly feel like we are watching a pop star who could be right up there with Dua Lipa releasing some of the best dance-pop tracks out today.

Julia-Sophie – forgive too slow
forgive too slow is one of those albums that hits you immediately. You don’t have to sit with it, but you’ll still want to sit with it because of the immediate impact. At the time of writing this, we have listened to each track through quite a few times, and we truly can’t compare this album to anything else out there. There is so much experimentation and different emotions conveyed, while still being sonically cohesive. Our favorite track at the moment is ‘numb.’

Kate Klein – ‘STUCK’
‘STUCK’ is one of those tracks that, as soon as we heard it, we knew everyone in our lives needed to hear it as well. This song tells a tale as old as time: being ‘STUCK’ within your destructive patterns. And it makes us feel like the journey to getting past that stage doesn’t have to be such a lonely one, since it’s such a universal experience.

Zola Courtney – ‘Anyone But Me’
If you’re looking for the song to cry to in your shower that we always try to provide, look no further. Zola Courtney delivers with ‘Anyone But Me.’ ‘Anyone But Me’ was a punch to the gut, but one we needed, it’s one of those post-breakup songs that says what you don’t want to think about, but says it so beautifully that you can almost come to terms with it. Zola perfectly describes the mourning stage of a breakup, and we can see this track being one that takes on a huge meaning for so many people.

Saint Motel – ‘Stay Golden’
Saint Motel simply never misses. Even though ‘Stay Golden’ has a deep lyrical meaning, the track manages to hang onto having the sound of a track that we would listen to while driving next to the water with our windows down, which just encapsulates Saint Motel for us. It’s been too long since their last album, and we’re ready for what’s to come!

Noah Rinker – After Dark
If the sub-genre of folk-pop has zero fans, then you’ll know we’re gone. Because we will forever be raving about it until then! And one of it’s brightest stars, Noah Rinker, has just released an EP that truly blew us away on our first listen! After Dark is Noah’s first multi-song project, so having the music already be at the level that is on display in songs like ‘I Hope It Hurts’ (among others) is an insane feat!

Emily James – The aLtErNaTeS Pt. 2
If you’re in the market for a new singer/songwriter to fall in love with, the clear choice in our books is Emily James! What she has managed to do on The aLtErNaTeS Pt. 2 by exploring every notch on the emotions spectrum is truly only explained by saying she is already mastering her craft. Songs like ‘London’ and ‘I’m Good’ really hammer that point home. This was a perfect follow up to her previous work and felt like an extension instead of a completely separate project.

Cameron Whitcomb – ‘Quitter’
You guys know by now that we always have to add a little country in these roundups! Cameron Whitcomb is one of those artists that you’re going to be hearing all over the place in a year or two’s time. And everyone will come back to his earlier music like ‘Quitter’ and be amazed that the music was already this good at this stage! As of right now, Cameron has four songs out, and after hearing ‘Quitter,’ we are hoping this is the start of building up to releasing a multi-song project, which we’ll need ASAP!

Nige – ‘Don’t Cry’
To close us out, we have an artist that we know you all will be obsessed with after one listen: Nige! Nige has managed to seamlessly blend the world of R&B and Pop into one track on ‘Don’t Cry.’ And he’s made a track for us that keeps getting better with every listen. We need a whole record of songs on this wavelength for us to vibe to.
