3 Things We Love About Double Apex By Josie Juniper

We think 2024 has been an impressive year for debut authors and novels! And now we think we’ve found another one of our top spicy debut novels this year! Josie Juniper’s Double Apex follows a romance between Phaedra Morgan, a genius F1 race engineer, and Cosmin Ardelean, a new racecar driver for the Emeralds.

We’ve fallen in love with this debut, and not just because of the cover. (But you have to admit, it definitely hooks you!) Here are three things we love most about Double Apex by Josie Juniper!

The Formula 1 Races

Has anyone else been getting F1 content all over their timelines? Because we have! Now that F1 racing has also entered our TBR lists, we really can’t get enough. Double Apex takes us all over the world, from Melbourne and China to Monaco and Barcelona. We travel with the team members to all their races, but our favorite has to be the last one in Abu Dhabi. Getting Cosmin’s perspective during the actual race had our hearts racing (haha). The pit stops and commentary was so fun to read, and we’ll take 10 more of these F1 romances, please!

Their Forbidden Romance

Ah yes, a race engineer and her team’s driver. What could go wrong? (Spoiler alert: everything, in fact.) Because Phaedra and Cosmin’s secret romance turns into dangerously real feelings. And for one of them, those feelings have been there from the start. However, their positions forbid them from fraternizing, and news of their romance could cause a scandal for the team. There’s spice and angst in equal parts, so we were giggling and tearing up at this push-pull romance. 10/10 would do it again. No regrets.

Speaking of forbidden romances, Phaedra and Cosmin’s story isn’t the only one we’ll get to read from this world. Double Apex is the first in Josie Juniper’s Frontrunners series, and the second follows Natalia, Phaedra’s best friend, and Klaus, Emerald’s team principal. We’re already sat for this installment and can’t wait for the next, which we can expect as soon as summer 2025!

Cosmin’s Yearning For Phaedra

They don’t make men yearn like they used to anymore! Or so we thought until we read Double Apex. Cosmin’s down bad-ness for Phaedra had us completely swooning. He’s so romantic, he knows just what to say, and his Romanian accent is just the cherry on top. We’re glad we get Cosmin’s POV along with Phaedra’s because the way Cosmin talks about her to his sister and friends is *chef’s kiss*. He stays ready to fight for their relationship and put in the effort to win Phaedra’s heart. If only she knew how much Cosmin pines after her…
