To celebrate the band being together for 21 years, McFly performed two shows back-to-back at the O2. They brought back every single album and played essentially, a setlist full of their greatest hits, with some songs having their first performance in 8 years. ‘I Wanna Hold You,’ ‘Sorry’s Not Good Enough,’ ‘Bubble Wrap,’ and ‘iF U C Kate,’ were some of the songs that made it onto their setlist. With their career spanning so many years, having songs debut for the first time in years makes it all the more special.

The O2 is one of England’s most iconic venues, pulling in crowds of up to 20,000 people. McFly is no stranger to packed arenas and has never failed to put everything into a show. With a walkway that looped around the front of the crowd, and a second stage towards the back of the floor (where Danny sings ‘Red’ and Tom joins him for a mini acoustic set) they made the most of the space and made sure every single person experienced a great view.
It was right after ‘Room on the 3rd Floor’ was performed on the second stage, that the surprise happened. Dougie spent a moment dissing Busted… friendly fire some may say. With what can only be described as a gatecrash, Busted stormed the main stage and destroyed Dougie’s favorite bass guitar in response to the previous jokes he had made. The two bands had a bit of a face-off before announcing a Busted VS McFly tour next year! Taking the battle of the bands to another level.
I thought I was listening to Busted’s new album, but it was just the sound of me sh*tting my pants.

Celebrating 21 years’ worth of music is an incredible talent. Making it an original experience for every tour is unbeatable. This show lasted nearly 3 hours, taking you on an emotional journey (…a very emotional journey) from Room on the 3rd Floor through to Power to Play, you are guaranteed to know at least a handful of songs. McFly makes sure to fill the room with energy and immaculate performances, full of hits on hits and personal speeches.
They have managed to keep up a habit of opening the show with the ‘YMCA’ before they’re even on stage. As soon as people hear that song, the anticipation starts, that’s your cue to get ready. The energy that builds in that moment is magic. As well as ending their shows with ‘The Heart Never Lies,’ McFly are men of tradition. With the heartfelt lyric change from “it’s not always easy, but I’m here forever,” to “it’s not always easy, but McFly’s here forever,” it’s a real tear-jerker.
