When news broke that ROSÉ had signed with Atlantic Records, we instantly thought up a list of our dream collabs for her. And right at the top of that list was none other than Bruno Mars… thank you to our past selves for manifesting what might just be our favorite collab of the year! ‘APT.’ is an energetic love song inspired by the Korean drinking game Apartment, with an addictively catchy hook. Seriously, it seems like the whole world (or at least most people we’ve seen on social media) have been bopping their heads humming “apateu, apateu” since release day.
Actually, scratch that. The whole world is absolutely loving ‘APT.,’ as they should! In its first day on Spotify, ‘APT.’ racked up nearly 6.9 million streams, giving ROSÉ the biggest-ever debut by a female K-Pop star and Bruno the biggest debut of his career so far. Add in over 108 million YouTube views and counting for the music video, directed by Bruno himself and Daniel Ramos, and you have a certified global hit. It’s what these superstars deserve!
‘APT.’ is actually my favorite Korean drinking game that I play with my friends back home. It’s so simple, puts a smile on your face, and breaks the ice at any party. One night in the studio I taught my crew how to play the game. Everyone was fascinated, especially when I started the chant, so we played around with it and I said we should make a song out of it… and after Bruno joined the track, the rest became history!

‘APT.’ is ROSÉ’s debut single with Atlantic Records and THEBLACKLABEL, following her legendary run as part of BLACKPINK and her YG Entertainment solo debut with ‘On The Ground’ and ‘GONE’ in 2021. Our expectations were already high for this release, and somehow she managed to exceed every single one. From the flirty lyrics to the nostalgic pop-rock production by Bruno, Curkut, Omer Fedi, and Rogét Chahayed, ‘APT.’ is a cheerful masterpiece that we know will soundtrack so many great memories for fans!
Speaking of expectations, ‘APT.’ also sets the bar pretty dang high for ROSÉ’s debut solo album, rosie, which she’s dropping on December 6th. It’ll feature 12 songs, including ‘APT.,’ and Rosie co-wrote each of them! There’s truly nothing she can’t do and we can’t wait to see what this era holds for her and our fellow Number Ones.
