It’s finally here! We have been so incredibly hyped up to listen to more music from YAZ, our favorite pop/R&B princess, and we can finally do so by enjoying her new EP! Wish You Were Here marks her official debut into longer musical projects with six tracks that are a 10/10. From soft pop melodies to catchy tunes with loving lyrics, YAZ has delivered one of the best pop EPs we’ve heard in a really long time (let’s be honest, it’s the best one!). She honestly has not disappointed us, and we’re so happy to say that the wait was so worth it!
We already talked about how much we love ‘Retrograde‘ and how excited we were to see how it would fit into YAZ’s EP. Now that we have heard how every track connects to this complete pop dream, everyone needs to listen to Wish You Were Here on repeat! Let’s go through every song of this EP and answer why YAZ is the musical princess you need in your playlists!
‘Magic’ Is The Perfect Intro!
YAZ kicked off our Wish You Were Here listening party with our favorite thing ever: a flawless intro! We already knew she would deliver the perfect pretty girl music we needed in our lives, but this intro track truly puts us in that mood. ‘Magic’ introduces us right into the unforgettable pop journey that we’re going to go through with the rest of the tracks. It will pull you in like a spell! YAZ has made us fall in love with her music, just like she expresses her sincerity in this song.
Not only were our minds blown by ‘Magic’s’ sound, but we also fell in love with the lyrics. This intro includes our favorite verses out of Wish You Were Here! They’re just so incredibly sincere, and we adore it when our most beloved artists express their love for someone so creatively!

Looking For A Pop Gem? ‘Favourite Boy’ Is Here!
Sit down; our YAZ-themed party is just getting started! We always listen to our favorite projects from top to bottom, so you could’ve imagined how our jaws dropped when we went from ‘Magic’ to the second track of this EP! ‘Favourite Boy’ has it all to become your next obsession! We love how YAZ transferred from the delicate tone of the intro to a more daring instrumental with this song.
‘Favourite Boy’ is all about falling deeper into that passion and infatuation over someone. YAZ’s music is all about being playful, and what’s more flirtatious than admitting that you’re connected to someone on another level? This track truly highlights that bold and girly touch that YAZ is a genius at expressing with her music, and we’re so blessed that we can have this much fun with this fantastic pop gem!
‘Wish You Were Here’ Is The Best Title Track Ever!
The title track of every EP has to capture the true essence of the artist who’s releasing it, and YAZ has definitely nailed this one! ‘Wish You Were Here’ has been playing in our heads ever since we listened to it for the first time! It’s catchy and so incredibly fun! One of the things we love about YAZ is how she’s able to convey so many moods with her voice and fit it with every instrumental, and that’s precisely what she has done with this song. The groovy guitar-driven sound from this track is one of the highlights of this project!
YAZ has gone all out with this EP, both musically and visually, and ‘Wish You Were Here’ vividly portrays her aesthetic and talent. She has connected all the colors and elements that represent her into the music video for this song (including the set where she took the cover art photo for this EP!). We love how amazing she looks and how much it fits in the Wish You Were Here era! We’re completely obsessed!
‘American Girls’ = Bubblegum Pop Excellence!
Just like we mentioned with ‘Wish You Were Here,’ YAZ can release many pop bops with different moods, from bold and daring tracks to sweet melodies like the one included in this song! ‘American Girls’ is so unique: It’s such a fresh perspective on long-distance relationships. We’ve never heard a song like this one, and we’re sure it will be essential in so many playlists!
Who else tries to play it cool on the outside while missing their long-distance partner on the inside all the time? YAZ can relate to that feeling with a bubbly instrumental and relatable lyrics, such as “I think my heart got stuck in your time zone.” YAZ has described so many ways of feeling love with this EP, and this track is truly one of a kind!
‘Necklace’ Makes Us Levitate!
To close Wish You Were Here out, YAZ decided to put ‘Necklace’ as the last track. We can confidently say that this is the best track to finish this EP! This track focuses on YAZ’s amazing vocals. We have been listening to her angelic voice throughout the other songs, but this one really highlights her vulnerability and range. Our favorite part of ‘Necklace’ has to be the outro. The softer lyrics of “I still wear my heart for you, like a necklace” with an instrumental that gives us chills is an incredible, dreamy combination!
This last track makes us say “wow” out loud every time we listen to this excellent EP. YAZ definitely did not disappoint with these pop anthems! We will continue to share how much we love YAZ’s music. We need everyone to tune in to this perfect project!
