Nothing gets us more hyped than when our faves hit the big screen! The whole world has been highly anticipating the release of Luca Guadagnino’s Queer starring Drew Starkey, Daniel Craig, and our ‘Evergreen’ boy, Omar Apollo. If you’re anything like us honeybees, then you already know every word of every Omar Apollo song and have been a longtime fan of his for years. This year we’ve been streaming Omar’s God Said No religiously and even got the chance to catch him perform it live on tour. Ever since then, we craved more from the artist.
Thankfully, director Luca Guadaginino answered our prayers.

Queer
Luca’s upcoming film, Queer, is a queer romance story set in 1950s Mexico City. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival and received a standing ovation and immediate buzz. As avid film watchers, we immediately heard about the raving reviews and added it to our list of movies to watch in 2024.
Queer is Omar’s acting debut, and we are so excited for him! There’s nothing Omar Apollo can do wrong, and that includes acting. No, we haven’t seen Queer quite yet (it opens in theaters on November 27!), but we already know we’re going to fall in love with Omar’s character and his acting skills.

‘Te Maldigo’
You can’t make a film starring Omar Apollo without a little music. In the film you’ll hear Omar singing a stunning song, ‘Te Maldigo, translated to “I curse you”. This song is definitely a curse, but in the best way possible. The lyrics and the melodies are so beautiful that we know we won’t be able to stop listening to it until we get to see it performed in theaters on November 27.
You can stream ‘Te Maldigo’ now and check out the music video below, directed by Luca Guadagnino himself 👇
