When you think of an artist who has had the world in the palm of her hand over the past few years, Olivia Rodrigo almost certainly comes to mind! Olivia very quickly shot to stardom after the massive success of SOUR and then the continued success of GUTS, truly an impressive run, which we don’t see slowing down anytime soon! 2024 has been a celebratory year for Olivia Rodrigo. She took GUTS on the road, to the big screen via Netflix, released the deluxe version of the album, GUTS (spilled), and has won her fair share of awards! There is so much to chat about when it comes to Olivia’s career this year, so let’s dive in!
GUTS World Tour
As soon as we heard GUTS, we knew this album was meant to be performed live, so a tour seemed inevitable! Once the GUTS tour, which was Olivia’s first all-arena tour, however, it exceeded any expectation we had of what this album live would look like. From the choreography (which we learned front to back), to the moments of fan interaction. to hearing our favorite lyrics come to life, it was a complete home run.
The GUTS World Tour was also a major platform for a longtime friend of Olivia’s, who is now one of the biggest names in music, Chappell Roan! Chappell opened for the first 24 dates on the GUTS World Tour, and we will always envy anyone who was in those crowds!
GUTS World Tour Concert Film
After the success of the GUTS World Tour, and with so many fans unable to attend the sold-out shows, it made perfect sense to bring the magic to the big screen via Netflix! This concert film made us feel like we had the ultimate front-row seat to everyone that goes into making a ticket to the GUTS World Tour one of the hottest tickets of the year.
GUTS (spilled)
‘so american’ is a discography highlight for Olivia Rodrigo, so it’s borderline criminal that it was held off until the deluxe version, but at least it’s there now for our listening pleasure! A lot of the time with deluxe albums, you get tracks that don’t always feel like they fit with the record, but with these five extra songs Olivia gave us, they feel like they were always meant to exist on the tracklist, like they complete this chapter of angst and puppy love.
