As we at THP start winding down for the end of the year, we want to reflect on all the book releases we’ve covered. What’s a better way to do that than by rounding up all our faves? We struggled narrowing down our choices, but we think we’ve curated a solid list.
This year has been a whirlwind for romances in both contemporary fiction and fantasy! But don’t worry; we’ll highlight our top fantasies for 2024 in another article. In the meantime, here are 5 of our favorite 2024 romance books!

Finally Fitz By Marisa Kanter
Our next 2024 romance book is for readers who can’t wait for summer! Finally Fitz by Marisa Kanter was a perfect combination of character growth, complex family dynamics, and heartwarming friendships, with a dash of fake dating! The plot was engaging, and Marisa Kanter’s easy-to-read writing style made the book so bingeable! Fitz was a great main character, her creativity and her time at fashion school were exciting to read about. The romance was so heartwarming, and we were rooting for Fitz and Levi from the beginning. Additionally, we loved that while romance is a focus of the story, Finally Fitz also explored the complexities of family and friendships.

Past Present Future By Rachel Lynn Solomon
Let’s continue strong with Rachel Lynn Solomon’s Past Present Future! BookTokers know that we never expected a sequel to the incredible Today Tonight Tomorrow. But we’re so glad the author continued Rowan and Neil’s beautiful rivals-to-lovers romance. Past Present Future follows the couple in their first semester of college: Rowan studying in Boston while Neil’s in New York. They must navigate a long-distance relationship while also dealing with classes, a new city, imposter syndrome, depression, and more.

If you love the rivals-to-lovers trope, then you can’t miss Love, Off the Record by Samantha Markum!
We couldn’t get enough of our main character, Wyn, who is dedicated to following her dreams. She grew so much, and her journey towards learning self-love was inspiring. Hands down, Wyn and Three were one of our favorite bookish couples of the year! Their banter was top-tier, and they left us constantly smiling while reading. Love, Off the Record kept us glued to the page and had the characters stuck in our heads long after we finished reading.

Another one of our favorite 2024 romances is Sleeping with the Frenemy by Natalie Caña! This book really surprised us with how quickly we fell in love with all the characters, not just the main couple, Sofia “Sofi” Santana and Leo Vega. Their two families feel so warm and inviting, and we dream of building that same community in our lives. If you loved this romance as much as we did, then you’ll be pleased to know that it’s the third book of the Vega Family Love Stories series.

Beautiful Broken Love By Shanora Williams
Our final pick for THP’s top 2024 romances is Beautiful Broken Love by Shanora Williams. We decided there needs to be some more angst to this list, and this sports romance got it. The main character Davina Klein lost her husband to cancer seven months ago. This book shows her emotional journey to accepting his death, while also connecting with someone new and allowing herself to love again. We definitely cried multiple times reading Beautiful Broken Love, but we’d do it again!
