THIS MONTH’S NEWS
Hey K-Poppies! Of course, we can’t start the new year off without bringing you some of the latest K-pop news! January was a bit of a slower month to start this year off with as Lunar New Year was upon us and K-Pop always takes a break for that one! But that didn’t keep our fave artists from feeding us as much as they could either. Especially XG coming to us at the end of the month with their newest release XDM Unidentified Waves which gave us the groups music reimagined and sweetened the end of the month for us.
Additionally to that we cannot wait for February and the amount of releases that are about to be rained upon us especially since BLACKPINK’s Lisa will kick off the month with her exciting new single ‘Born Again’ featuring the one and only Doja Cat. The song is out on February 6th and you can pre-save the song right here. That’s it though folks. January was just the teaser for what’s to come in 2025. The upcoming months look more than exciting.
BOYNEXTDOOR
BOYNEXTDOOR is starting off our January hotspot strong with their new single! ‘If I Say I Love You’ is a teenage heartbreak anthem. We haven’t gotten it out of our heads since its release! The boys sing about what they’re like after a breakup or rejection. It’s all they think about, and nothing else seems to matter. The lyrics hit hard, but we can’t help but want to dance because of the instrumental!

ONEW
Onew, our beloved! He knew we’d need positivity this year and blessed us with his fourth mini-album, CONNECTION. The title track, ‘Winner,’ is a powerful, emotional song about moving forward. Onew sings about fighting for what we want and not returning to the dark times we were in before. We just love seeing him happy and healthy. And we already know his songs will help us overcome all the obstacles this year has for us!

GFRIEND
If you had told us a few years ago that GFRIEND would have a surprise reunion in 2025, we would have laughed and cried simultaneously. Now that it’s actually here, we don’t know what to do with ourselves. GFRIEND’s special anniversary album, Season of Memories, features two songs that feel like no time has passed since their last comeback. ‘Season of Memories’ has the nostalgic signature GFRIEND sound. The music video even showcases all their memories and group performances. And ‘Always’ is an upbeat dance track that gives us hope for the future. We’re fully sobbing now. Someone check on Lil Uzi Vert, too.

ONEUS
ONEUS is back, baby! Our January K-Pop Hotspot has been made even better with their special album, Dear.M. ONEUS has dedicated this special album to their fans, with five new songs and twelve re-recorded versions of past title tracks as five members. The title track, ‘IKUK,’ is a seductive song about a push-pull game between two lovers. The music video speaks for itself with a simple but powerful concept. They are so underrated, and we’ll be listening to the entire ONEUS discography top to bottom now because of this incredible comeback!

BBGIRLS
BBGIRLS is back with a new single! ‘LOVE 2’ is an inspiring city-pop song about new beginnings and creating memories with the people you love. It’s such a feel-good song with an infectious retro vibe. We’re so moved by this trio, formerly from Brave Girls, who have re-debuted and are working hard to release new music for us. And we’ll follow them wherever they go. Fighting, BBGIRLS!

WEi
Here’s another January K-Pop release we can’t get enough of. WEi made sure we’ll love ‘NOT ENOUGH,’ and we truly do. So much that we have to poke at you to take a listen if you haven’t had the chance yet. The pre-chorus makes for the perfect transition, leading us to quite the hook that is the chorus itself. WEi always find a way to bring us music that we will love!

GOT7
GOT7 comeback! This is not a drill! We got our much-awaited GOT7 return, and WINTER HEPTAGON is the perfect release. Needless to say, ‘PYTHON’ immediately entered our playlists, winning us over with its addictive sound and lyrics. And while it feels new, it definitely still carries that GOT7 vibe. And aside from being obsessed (in a totally healthy way) with this title track, we can’t forget about the B-Sides. When it comes to GOT7, we have to give some much-earned appreciation to all of their tracks.

KICKFLIP
Next on our January K-Pop Hotspot is KickFlip’s debut mini-album, Flip It, Kick It!. The title track, ‘Mama Said,’ is a catchy song about going with the flow and doing things their way. These boys have a fresh, unbothered attitude that we could use in our playlists. Our favorite B-sides are ‘Knock Knock’ and ‘Like A Monster.’ We can already tell that KickFlip is a new boy group we’ll have to watch this year!

CIX
CIX is back with their seventh EP, Thunder Fever! This K-Pop boy group is ready to take on 2025 with such an explosive comeback. ‘Thunder’ is a high-energy track about the electricity and shock of falling in love. They can’t help but feel a storm of emotions building up. The music video and choreography are just as electrifying as the song! (Get it?) Don’t sleep on their B-sides, either! Our favorites are ‘Bad Moves’ and ‘My Everlasting Sun!’

EUNHYUK
It may be the mid-2020s, but Super Junior Eunhyuk throws it back to the 90s with his first solo mini-album! Explorer absolutely oozes old-school vibes, and we can get down with this retro sound on Eunhyuk. ‘UP N DOWN’ is the perfect pick for the title track, and we’ve been obsessing over the music video for days! Be sure to listen to his high-quality b-side tracks like ‘You & I (feat. Kyuhyun)’ and ‘Second Chances.’ You won’t be disappointed!
