Guys, wake up… One of our favorite artists, Djo, has released a new single titled ‘Delete Ya!’ There’s no way you don’t know who Djo (pronounced Joe) is…But if you don’t, the name Joe Keery might be familiar. He’s been making music under the pseudonym Djo since 2019. While we await the release of his new album, you can be sure that this tune will be on repeat!
‘Delete Ya’ is the emo younger sibling of ‘Basic Being Basic’
In an interview with Lucy Smith for triple j, Djo mentioned that ‘Delete Ya’ and ‘Basic Being Basic‘ are two sides of the same coin. We couldn’t agree more after listening to both tracks. One moment, you find yourself in your feelings, and the next, you’re ready to dance. As a pair, they fit together seamlessly and tell an emotional story.
‘Basic Being Basic‘ can be seen as a playful, subtle jab at past relationships or an ex-friend. The track allows you to laugh at the situation while also acknowledging the sadness that came with it. In contrast, ‘Delete Ya’ delves into the internal struggles of moving on after a breakup, especially when everything around you serves as a reminder of what you’ve lost. Moving on is easier said than done; Djo articulates that pain beautifully.
Our Favorite Lyrics
I’m locked, she’s the key
I’m a boat that’s sinking, guess who’s the sea
It’s hard to shake it off and get back to me
When anything is a memory
And you repeat to the nth degree
Djo is preparing for his Back On You: The World Tour 2025 with Post Animal, following the release of his third studio album, The Crux. We are eagerly counting down the days until we can hear all the songs he has worked so hard on, and we can’t wait to see what everyone thinks. Let us know your thoughts on the single by connecting with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
