If you’re in the Chappell Roan stratosphere, then hearing the ‘The Giver’ was not a total surprise. It was first teased on her Instagram back in October, and then we got a live performance of it on Saturday Night Live. And y’all, we absolutely loved it the first time we heard it! And now that we got it officially, we can’t wait to hear it live with the possible changing bridge 👀.
620-HOT-TO-GO
We really can’t talk about ‘The Giver’ without talking about its advertisement.

The picture above is just one billboard that was seen across the country promoting the track. Chappell shows that she is always better, no matter what position she is in; whether it’s a dentist, private investigator, lawyer, construction worker, or plumber, she is always getting the job done. There were also posters around town, and the number 620-HOT-TOGO was attached to them. When you dialed it, it asked who you were trying to reach, and when you clicked on one of the extensions, it led you to a snippet of the track; they really put their all into the promotion of the track, and honestly, we think it really paid off.
It’s Time To Give You ‘The Giver’
Now, we first wanna say that we’ve been dying for a country track since we first heard ‘Pink Pony Club’ and saw its music video. And you know what, we’re suckers for queer Country anthems or, as Chappell calls it, “c*ntry.” In ‘The Giver,’ Chappell gloats that she can get the job done, as she can give country girls what they need, better than any country boy can. She also mentions everything that you can find in the countryside: Antlers on the wall, revvin’ lifted trucks, and strip malls. Just throw in more than a few BBQ places and feed stores, and you’ll get a typical small country town song, but make it gay. Overall, we absolutely loved it, especially the beginning. We loved the count-in and fiddles; it’s the perfect grabber for a Chappell song.
Now, because we loved ‘The Giver’ so much, we wanted to talk about it even more, especially about the occupations Chappell portrayed. So, here’s the Chappell Roan song we think each occupation would love!
The Lawyer
Imagine this: a high-end lawyer who is always busy that a relationship they had faded to the side, but their ex is always trying to meet for a drink and rekindle stuff, and they just push it off as being busy, but really they know where it will end. Maybe we’re reading too much into it, but it would be ‘Coffee.’
The Dentist
Okay, so the dentist we can see being into ‘Sugar High’ would probably think it’s really clever, especially with them being a dentist. You would hear them singing the opening verse, “I absolutely adore / About your smile, it’s like I’m in a candy store,” when they’re cleaning your teeth.
The Contruction Worker
The construction workers would say that ‘Femininomenon‘ is their anthem as they haven’t seen many women portrayed in the media as construction workers. You would hear the song when they put you on hold for their all-woman construction business. Don’t worry. They’ll get to you soon; they’re just super busy.
The Private Detective
We can honestly picture the private detective listening to ‘My Kink is Karma.’ Especially with the lyrics being about watching their ex ruining their life, it seems like a perfect song for the detective to listen to while they’re out on a case. Now, this may or may not pertain to their life but more like the lives of their clients’ exes.
The Plumber
The plumber heard ‘HOT TO GO!’ once, and it hasn’t left their heart since; you can hear them humming the song from underneath the sink. If they think no one is around, they’d probably be singing it at the top of their lungs, even throwing in the dance moves.
If you haven’t already, or maybe you just want to give ‘The Giver’ another listen, you can check it out here. Be on the lookout, as there will be five different types of vinyl with the different occupations coming out soon. Also, the lyric video teased a frame that showed the songs ‘To Be Yours,’ ‘Read & Make Out,’ ‘Good Luck Babe!,’ ‘The Giver,’ and ‘The Subway.’ What does this mean? Honestly, we’re not sure, but we’ll keep an eye out.
