The day is finally here, and we are losing our minds. Calum Hood is beating the unemployment allegations with the drop of his debut single ‘Don’t Forget You Love Me’ AND the announcement of his debut album ORDER chaos ORDER. We may have to wait until June 13th for the album, but we WILL be streaming ‘Don’t Forget You Love Me’ on repeat until then to get us through it.
‘Don’t Forget You Love Me’ is our first taste of Calum Hood’s raw vulnerability. The lyrics don’t hold back. The song literally starts with “12am on taco tuesday/And I’m crying out my eyes/and I’m sitting there wondering/if I wanna be alive” which sets a pretty intense tone. As the track continues, it delves further into themes of self-love and heartbreak, coming together to form a track full of introspection and vulnerability.
And the music video? *chef’s kiss* The mv captures the melancholy self-reflection of the track and the visuals are incredible.
‘Don’t Forget You Love Me’ is a slow, haunting, introspective track that’s setting the scene for ORDER chaos ORDER. If this type of vulnerability and lyricism is what we can expect from the album, we are simply not ready (in that we are so excited to see what Calum has in store that we don’t know what to do with ourselves). In terms of the album, Mr. Hood himself seems to describe it best:
There are things I’ve never been able to sing about in the band—my upbringing, my family, the places life has taken me. This album is about laying those things to rest and allowing listeners to connect in their own way

While we, of course, love everything that Calum does as a part of 5SOS, we are so, so excited to see him embrace the solo artist path like his fellow bandmates. We love that he’s getting this outlet for his personal experiences, and we can’t wait to see where his solo journey leads. ‘Don’t Forget You Love Me’ is amazing, and we certainly think it’s a sign of amazing things to come.
We love a good Calum Hood vocal moment around here. It’s why songs like ‘Babylon’ and ‘You Don’t Go To Parties’ are favorites of ours from 5SOS’ discography, and we’re about to get a whole album of Calum Hood vocals! The deeper, slower vocals on ‘Don’t Forget You Love Me’ absolutely blew us away from the first listen. They really emphasize the raw, personal vulnerability of the track, and they sound absolutely beautiful set against the track’s production. We wouldn’t mind it if the whole album sounds like this, but we also wouldn’t be mad about seeing the full range of Calum Hood’s vocals. Basically, Calum Hood could sing the dictionary and we’d still be a mess about his voice.
This album was made in a tumble dryer of knowing and not knowing. I started out with a vision—order—but quickly became overwhelmed by the process—chaos. Eventually, I learned to embrace both, and that balance became the heart of the record.”

“Tumble dryer of knowing and not knowing” is entering our lexicon immediately. But on a serious note, we’re excited to hear the thematic balance of order and chaos running throughout the album, given that the album name is literally ORDER chaos ORDER. Those of us who have grown up with 5SOS and Calum Hood might feel some of this “knowing and not knowing” ourselves. We don’t know about you, but for us it feels comforting to have music that touches on those feelings from an artist that we’ve gotten to grow up with.
One question that comes to mind in all of this: what does it mean for Calum’s budding TikTok career? We would like to see more of his tarot readings.
How much do you love ‘Don’t Forget You Love Me’ and how excited are you for ORDER chaos ORDER? Be sure to stream ‘DFYLM’ and pre-save ORDER chaos ORDER so you’re all set when it drops.
