Hi, Olivia! Thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us! Before we jump in, how would you describe your music to someone tuning in for the first time?
Of course, thanks for having me! I would describe it as cinematic, moody, and melodic. My music lives somewhere between emotional storytelling and pop; you can scream it in the car with the windows down. If you’re into songs that make you feel something but also like to dance a little, my songs are for you!
‘MARILYN’ is officially out! This track acts as the lead single from your upcoming album. What went into the decision for this to be the first taste of the new era that fans got?
‘MARILYN’ felt like the spark that lit this whole new chapter. She’s playful, powerful, and a little chaotic, just like the era ahead 🙂 I wanted the first taste of the album to feel like stepping into a world where elegance meets edge… and my song ‘MARILYN’ is exactly that.
In the same vein, what was it about Marilyn’s life/legacy that inspired you while crafting this song?
It wasn’t so much her story as it was her essence. That magnetic confidence. That softness and strength. ‘MARILYN,’ the song, is about channeling that kind of bold, unapologetic energy… the kind you carry with you when you’re falling in love with life and yourself.
Aside from ‘MARILYN,’ what is one song on the album that you are most looking forward to having out in the world?
Ooo, this is tough. ‘Velvet & Denim’ (the title track!) feels special. It’s the heartbeat of the whole project. It’s messy, romantic, and very real. I can already picture this song live and hear everyone screaming the chorus together.
We know that performing live gives new life to songs. Is there a particular song in your discography that your relationship with it changed after playing it live?
Definitely! ‘The Walls’ hits differently live. There’s something about singing a heartbreak song with a crowd that turns it from something heavy into something… freeing. It’s a reminder that none of us are really alone in how we feel… and that’s such a powerful thing.
‘MARILYN’ is such a visual song! Are there any plans for a video to go along with this track? And if so, can you share a bit about that vision?
Yes! I released a visualizer with this song, and it’s simple but feels like it captures the song really authentically. It’s black and white, elegant and a little edgy.
It’s been almost four years since your debut self-titled album came out. When you compare the artist you were then to the artist about to release your next album, what do you see as the biggest area of creative growth?
Honestly? Trust. I trust my voice more now. Not just my singing voice, but my artistic voice. I’ve learned that making something real and imperfect is way more powerful than trying to chase “perfect.” This album is the most me I’ve ever been, and that feels good.
