It’s been a huge month in general for the 5SOS fandom, but an even bigger one for Michael Clifford stans everywhere. You know what? We think it’s beyond time for Michael stans to get their flowers- and he’s delivering! From Michael Clifford’s debut single ‘Cool,’ to an album announcement and new single ‘give me a break!,’ which features the one and only WATERPARKS. It’s safe to say we’re being fed this year.
It’s not surprising to us that Michael Clifford and Waterparks finally collaborated, the bands have been friends and fans of one another for close to a decade now. Not to mention, so many fans love and admire the friendship between Michael and Awsten. They have very similar auras, and we think that’s laid the foundation for not only this song but also the music video.
I’d been really wanting to create something unique with Awsten and Waterparks. Awsten became my person that I would vent to about different things in life and I think that that’s the kind of the energy that this song has. It’s very authentic to us. – Michael Clifford

Speaking of that music video…we need to talk about the narrative behind it. Anyone who has existed within the 5SOS Family is very familiar with the space fanfiction holds within the fandom. It has such a presence that Michael himself has read it live on Twitch streams in the past. Also, we love the way this video pays respect to Death Note. That’s so Michael Clifford core and we’re obsessed with it.
I wanted to make sure that we glorified fan fiction and how beautiful it is that people write these incredible farfetched stories about their favorite artists and publish them for the world to see.
