So you read that right, Hot Mulligan has an upcoming album on the way, The Sound a Body Makes When It’s Still, set for release on August 22nd. The group says it’s their most cohesive album yet, which makes us very excited to see what they have in store for us. It will be a 16-track album, which includes our newest track, ‘And a Big Load,’ which is what we’re excited to talk to you about today, so let’s get to it!
“‘The Sound a Body Makes When It’s Still’ is a lyric reference,” says co-vocalist Tade Sanville. “That lyric is in a song about paranoia, which is fear. With the album title, you can go the meditation route, or, the horror that you are in your body, and you have to exist. You have no choice, really...

Look, we have a lot of Hot Mulligan tracks that have made their way to our favorite track playlists, but we added ‘And a Big Load’ quicker than any song before. We love that you can tell it’s a Hot Mulligan track by their vocals and riffs, but they have a new vibe to them. We aren’t saying that they weren’t showing their true feelings through their singing and performing before, but with this track, it almost seems like a veil has been taken off, and they’re singing right in front of us, with no filter. We think they perfectly translate the lyrics to how they’re performing; you can instantly tell what the song is about. That’s what always makes Hot Mulligan stand out amongst the rest. What also sold us was the drums; we love what Jonah Kramer is doing. And the lyrics, specifically the line “Choking on apologies / I can’t get out a word, I’m useless.” Those lyrics are deep.

Now, the music video we love – it just screams summer and having a good time at the skate park.
