Is Who’s The Clown? the best debut album of all time? After listening on repeat since its release, we think it just might be! From the witty, self-reflective lyrics to the beats that are reminiscent of the early 2000s, everything about Audrey Hobert’s debut album is exactly what we’ve been looking for in a record. To celebrate this release, we knew we had to break down our five favorite tracks, so let’s jump in!

‘Sue Me’
Listen, ‘Sue Me’ was the world’s introduction to who Audrey Hobert is as an artist for a reason. This track is pure pop ear candy. There is a plethora of funky sonic moments, one-liners that we find ourselves repeating over and over again, and word vomit (in the best way possible) reminiscent of Audrey’s writing on the hit Gracie Abrams track ‘That’s So True.’
‘Chateau’
If we had to pick a favorite track on Who’s the Clown? ‘Chateau’ would be our automatic pick. Even though this record just came out, this is already in our on-repeat playlist. The chorus is that serious to us. The idea of being surrounded by the things that anyone looking in would see as glamorous and feeling like you’d rather be back in high school around things that feel familiar is one that is so refreshing to see played out through song.
‘Shooting Star’
‘Shooting Star’ is one of those songs that you find something new to love about it with every single listen. It’s relatable in a way that feels like Audrey was able to get into our heads and access the thoughts we haven’t been able to express out loud. The concept of how easy it is to make someone out to be this incredible person, this once-in-a-lifetime being, only to find out you’re the only person seeing that is one of universal heartbreaks.
‘Phoebe’
If you’re going to write a coming-of-age song about discovering yourself and your worth and use Friends to tell that story, we are going to tune in every time! ‘Phoebe’ is, in our opinion, one of the cornerstones of this record. The writing, the vocals, and the melodies are some of the best in the album, perfectly showcasing Audrey’s strengths as an artist.
‘Bowling Alley’
To round out our favorite tracks on Who’s The Clown?, we have to talk about ‘Bowling Alley.’ When ‘Bowling Alley’ came out, it became increasingly clear that Audrey was going to be an artist that we were only going to become more and more invested in. This track showed that ‘Sue Me’ wasn’t just a one-off, that the witty writing and the flow that would fit perfectly in our favorite 2000s movies was going to be the through line for this entire album.
