Pop princess Hilary Duff has made her long-awaited return to music, and all is right in the music world! luck…or something has been a record that in concept, we have talked about a million times, dreaming about the day that Hilary was going to make the venture back into this form of creating! And while we may have imagined what a mature Hilary album would look like, luck…or something exceeded every hope we had. This is an honest, witty snapshot of where Hilary is in her life, both personally and professionally.
We decided to celebrate the album’s release, so we would break down our four favorite tracks for the album! Let’s jump in!

‘We Don’t Talk‘
‘We Don’t Talk’ is a true look at Hilary’s ability to tell a story and to inject such vulnerability into her music. In any interview you watch about this album, it’s clear that this song is a real point of emotion for Hilary, that so much of her, and her real-life experience went into this. We can count on this making a lot of other people, who may be going through a similar experience, feel seen and feel like they aren’t alone, and that’s a beautiful emotion for music to evoke.
‘Weather For Tennis’
‘Weather For Tennis’ is a song for the people pleasers who have hit their breaking point. Using the metaphor of having an actual conversation being like the back and forth of a tennis match, and saying “if it ain’t the weather for tennis, guess we can argue until dinner time” paints a picture so seamlessly of one party being unable to come to the table and have a mature conversation. The message, mixed with the sun-soaked backing track, makes for a song we’ve had on repeat since our first listen.
‘Holiday Party’
‘Holiday Party’ is for all of the overthinkers! This track is all about Hilary expressing her internal monologue of insecurity, of overthinking every situation when it comes to her relationship, to the point of creating situations in her head, a true tale as old as time. When you’ve been put in situations where your fears have been materialized, it’s hard not to imagine that over and over again.
‘Adult Size Medium’
We went back and forth with which song to include in this fourth spot, but we just kept coming back to what a perfect pop song we think ‘Adult Size Medium’ is. The message behind the song deals with the rush to grow up, and then finding out all of the harsh realities, how maybe there is more comfort in your youth. It’s about how many times people have grown up so fast that when they look around at their lives, they can’t see themselves clearly.
