The world shakes anytime BLACKPINK makes a comeback, and the release of DEADLINE wasn’t any different. With an early taste of the mini-album last summer, and BLACKPINK having their biggest tour yet after each member went on to make history with their solo music, we knew this comeback would be one for the books. Only a few days before their comeback, they made history as the first artists to reach 100 million subscribers on YouTube. It was clear that the entire world was ready for a new comeback, and BLACKPINK delivered.
The Pre-Release: ‘JUMP’
Before the big release, BLACKPINK embarked on their biggest tour yet, the DEADLINE World Tour. And that wasn’t the only way they took over the summer of 2025 as BLACKPINK released their first song together since 2023. ‘JUMP’ was released in honor of the new tour, as a celebration of their comeback. While it has BLACKPINK‘s unmistakable sound, ‘JUMP’ also expanded on their sound, introducing new melodies and even more EDM elements. ‘JUMP’ got better with every single listen and with every single performance of the song on tour. But it was simply the first taste of DEADLINE.
The Title Track: ‘GO’
While ‘JUMP’ was the moment when it was released, ‘GO’ is the song in DEADLINE and the face of the comeback for a reason. ‘JUMP’ already pushed their EDM sound further, but ‘GO’ takes it to a whole other level—it’s harsher yet blends with their musicality beautifully. The immaculate build-up of the production is ultimately what makes ‘GO’ so good and so addictive. The song has one of BLACKPINK‘s best intros, opening with each member having their own vocal moment over a stripped-back production, only for it to absolutely explode. This is a song where all their individuality and unique artistry come together beautifully.
The B-Sides
‘GO’ is the moment, but DEADLINE still gave us three new b-sides. ‘Me and my’ exemplifies the more hip-hop-driven side of BLACKPINK‘s discography, with a more rap-focused track that’s filled with personality. ‘Champion’ is an anthem-like song that truly highlights their resilience and their power as a full group. Meanwhile, ‘Fxxxboy‘ is the finishing touch on the mini-album: an acoustic, laid-back track that highlights the versatility, emotion, and unique tone each of the four members gives with their vocals. It serves as a perfect closure for the spike of energy DEADLINE serves with each of its tracks.
