The Grove’s got the limo out front—courtesy of Maybelline New York’s Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary pop-up—and honestly, the energy alone should’ve had its own Disney Channel promo. Hottest styles? Obviously, because Miley Cyrus showed up repping Rabanne SS24 with a Hannah tee—her pop star-slash-ordinary girl alter ego—layered underneath it, which is such a devastatingly good outfit choice that we need a moment of silence.

And when you’re famous, it is kinda fun—because the majority of the cast dropped by for Disney‘s premiere screening of the anniversary special at the El Capitan Theatre. Yes, that El Capitan Theatre—the same one they stood in front of back in 2009 for Hannah Montana: The Movie. From prank-serving Jason Earles, a.k.a. Miley Stewart’s brother Jackson, to the ever-hilarious Moises Arias—Rico Suave Jr. himself, owner-operator of his own surf shop, thank you very much—both actors showed up for the loved-up fest. There was, however, a Lilly-sized hole in the evening, with Emily Osment unable to make it due to filming Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage (we forgive her, but only because we also watch it).
The special itself? Hosted by Call Her Daddy‘s Alex Cooper and starring the people who made the show what it was—from Selena Gomez and Billy Ray Cyrus to the super fan variety, with Chappell Roan popping up because of course she did. Throw in rockstar performances of both the classics and the new, including Miley’s tribute to the show and her younger self, ‘Younger You,’ and what you’ve got is a nostalgic party that we’d really, really like to never leave.
Nobody’s Perfect, But This Time Capsule Is Pretty Close
So, we’re deciding not to. Yup—you heard Miley. She’s planning to celebrate her blonde-wig twin every year now, and we’re going to do the same, except, you know, maybe with another ten-year timelapse courtesy of a time capsule. In the special, Miley’s carrying around Hannah’s hot pink makeup trunk—beautified with vinyl stickers, because what else—so we’re doing something similar: throwing a few early 2000s items with a Hannah twist into a box, sealing it shut, and digging it up later when we’re emotionally ready (so, never).
Record A Flip Phone Voicemail
If only AI were cool enough to whip up the Z-Phone—the answer to seeing your bestie as a hologram, as seen in ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get the Phone’ in season two—but alas, we’ve still got our dusty toy cellphone with our blonde superstar on it that we haven’t been able to throw away (and never will, thanks). Pretend you’re dialing up your future self by attaching a scrawled note, fangirling over all the reasons you’re still obsessed with Hannah and how she’s the only one who could ever relate. Or, if you truly want to get trippy, opt for a real flip phone, record a voice message on it, and hear your actual voice years later—unhinged, emotional, and probably mid-sentence about Jackson eating the last slice of pizza.
Burn A “Hannah’s Tour Bus” Mix CD
From the iconic performance of current-day Hannah belting out ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ in the anniversary special, to casting our own mind movie where she re-records ‘One in a Million,’ we’ve all got our top five Hannah tracks. Yup—even those underrated ones that only you can still remember every lyric to. Well, we’re going back to the early 2000s, when burning CDs was all the rage because we didn’t have Spotify to keep us fed. Create a mini playlist, burn it onto a CD, and doodle the cover artwork with butterflies and guitars, slap some Hannah stickers on it, and have it prepped for jamming on the tour bus—or, you know, your commute, but let’s not kill the fantasy.
Design A Myspace Profile For Hannah
Before we all became influencers starring in transitions scored to our fave’s sounds on TikTok, there was a more low-key—but high-key dramatic—social media: Myspace. Can we even imagine ranking our friendship group now with a top eight? Probably not. But we certainly can for Hannah. Channel your inner pop star and roleplay her Myspace page through some scrapbook paper, collaging what Hannah’s profile would’ve looked like—her profile song, what theme she used, her top eight (Lilly’s in first, obviously, and Jackson’s not on there at all), and a cute “about me” that radiates main character energy.
Fill Out A “Pass It To Your BFF” Chatterbox
In case you need a class refresher on what a chatterbox is—or, you know, you’ve spotted one in passing in a recent Taylor Swift music video (shoutout to ‘Opalite,’ and shoutout to the two songs she wrote for the Hannah franchise while we’re at it)—it’s a paper fortune teller. Colors, numbers, and hidden messages, because we’re that cool. Except instead of revealing your crush’s name or what you’re having for lunch, this one’s revealing what we actually need to know: your top Hannah everything. Make up a Hannah Montana questionnaire like you’re at a trivia night, fill it out honestly—no, honestly—and tuck it inside the time capsule.
Customize A “Double Life” Tote Bag
We’re not sure which one we want to raid first: Hannah’s closet—set up like we’re walking right into the most glamorous shop in the world—or the actual clothes in it, especially the baguette bags. Imagine a ‘Best of Both Worlds’ bag, where one side is Miley-centric—denim vibes, rocker chick, everything that screams her—and the other side is purely Hannah: glitter, stars, and totally pink. And with Stoney Clover Lane’s collaboration with the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary dropping patches and bag charms, the inspiration is practically begging to be DIY’d. Fair warning, though—you’re going to want this handbag glued to your shoulder every day rather than stuck in a box, but your future self will send you kudos for the fashion staple.
Which item are you stashing away in your Hannah Montana 30th anniversary box? By then, Miley’s going to be in her forties, and we’re going to be the perfect picture of that retiring meme—wheeling along and chaotically yelling about how Starbucks once had a raspberry-themed Hannah Montana anniversary drink despite it being well known in the show that she detests that flavor. Let us know which one’s making it into your capsule on our socials—Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook—and then go have a sing-along to ‘Best of Both Worlds’ on Disney+. 2006 you would be so proud 🫶🤠.
