Bold, flashy—in the best way—and “sassy,” as we at Honey Pop would say. Looking at the ‘Alibi’ music video, Sevdaliza confesses to something wild while making another woman her alibi. This musical drama isn’t the only talent she has displayed throughout her palpable career; the presence of a strong diva, carrying her identity through every hit, makes her music an unspeakable force in the worlds of alternative R&B and electronica.
At Honey Pop, we decided to take a closer look at what Sevdaliza does with her art that makes both her persona and her music—from her persona to her top tracks—command such high interest worldwide.
So, join us for the ride—we promise it’s going to be enlivening.
‘Ride or Die’ feat. Villano Antillano and Tokischa
This track is slaying with its beats. It’s empowering as soon as you put it on your Spotify. Like most Sevdaliza songs, this one also has its own charm—rather enigmatic and alluring with its all-consuming atmosphere of ‘sick love,’ where dependency on each other is stronger than life itself.
The deep and low voice of Antillano only strengthens the bitter aftertaste of such love, while Tokischa’s smooth and somewhat lazy Spanish gives its own spiciness to the main idea of the lyrics. With current Spotify streams surpassing 512 million, ‘Ride or Die’ is a total banger—and we’re leaving the link for you right here.
‘Alibi’ Ft. Pabllo Vittar & Yseult
Probably everyone has heard the line ‘I just killed my man, she’s my alibi,’ though we here at Honey Pop are obviously against violence. Even if your ex was too much.
Again, as in ‘Ride or Die,’ ‘Alibi’ mixes voices and tones, making the track distinctive while showcasing each artist’s style in full. While the central topic is an unhealthy love relationship, ‘Alibi’ reveals a total devotion to female friendship, a theme rarely sung about. Featuring Yseult, a rising French voice in electropop, and Pabllo Vittar, the famous Brazilian drag queen with an incredibly high, mastered voice—making the song sound like it’s on the edge of crying because of the storm’s love sometimes sends into our lives—‘Alibi’ rightfully justifies its hype.
And who are we to argue with the hype, with over 654 million streams? It’s better to just share the link to this masterpiece with you.
‘Human’
Now, nine years after the release of ‘Human,’ not everyone will remember the track—especially after the two we’ve already mentioned, which have somewhat overshadowed the hit that was Sevdaliza’s initial breakthrough.
Yet it deserves well-deserved attention, if only because it reflects Sevdaliza’s emergence as an electropop artist and her memorable musical style, marked by lingering passion and themes of love and relationships.
If Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein had been a song, it would be Sevdaliza’s ‘Human.’ It examines our existence and feelings as a Frankenstein’s monster, trying to convey to everyone our own nature—what we feel and why, and why sometimes it’s hard to cope with ourselves.
With 40.8 million streams, the link for this gem is waiting for you right here!
