With how much heart JISOO pours into her music, it’s so easy for her songs to ‘CLICK’ with us quite instantly! Her latest single, ‘CLICK,’ is an electropop celebration of unexpected love that had us falling head over heels from our very first listen. The lyrics show Jisoo going back and forth over whether it’d be worth it to risk her friendship with someone to see if the chemistry between them could go anywhere, but even with the doubts in her mind, she takes the jump and gives it a try.
The ‘CLICK’ music video might just be our favorite JISOO visual to date, featuring direction by Joseph Kahn, who you almost definitely know from his work with stars like Taylor Swift and Britney Spears. It takes place in a run-down, haunted amusement park full of fun carnival booths and rides that haven’t gotten their shining moment in what seems to be a long time. Jisoo is a cyborg maintaining that’s left of the park and finds a broken robotic teddy bear, now known as the CLICK Bear and thought to represent her fanbase, that helps her bring things back to life after she repairs it. It’s a beautiful statement on the power of “clicking” with someone in a strong connection and how it can change your world, as well as the connection she has with her fans!
So if ‘CLICK’ were hosting the ultimate carnival, which games, booths, and rides would JISOO’s other solo songs be in charge of? She can call us up to put together a carnival-themed fan event anytime, because we have ideas. Come one, come all, and step right up!
‘FLOWER’ – Face Painting
Just like ‘FLOWER’ was a natural, inviting way to step into JISOO’s solo career, a quick stop at the face painting booth is a great way to get into the carnival spirit! The flower imagery and “I fly away like a blue butterfly” line even remind us of some popular designs. What kind of art would you request?
‘All Eyes On Me’ – Rollercoaster
When a crowd is heading towards the rides section of a carnival, their eyes probably land on a rollercoaster, of course! And you might feel like everyone on the ground’s eyes are on you if you’re going for a roll. Some of the English translations of the lyrics even remind us of a rollercoaster’s energy, particularly the lines, “Hold your breath and watch” and “Take a leap of faith, bungee.” Hold your breath and get ready to “leap” down those drops!
‘earthquake’ – A Drop Tower
Come on, tell us that the euphoric “I think I’m gonna– da-da-da-da-da…” drop doesn’t feel just like one of those massive drops on a tall drop tower ride! ‘earthquake’ would be a must on your playlist if you’re a brave carnival-goer who takes on the challenge. We may or may not prefer watching from ground level, but we’re cheering you on and bet Jisoo would, too.
‘Your Love’ – Tunnel Of Love
Beyond the initial thrill of the connection on ‘earthquake’ and before it falls apart on ‘TEARS’ and ‘Hugs & Kisses,’ ‘Your Love’ is a special moment that celebrates love! So naturally, it’d be perfect for the Tunnel Of Love. They usually have decorations like swans, flowers, and hearts, but we’d love to see a custom one for JISOO with the moon and some stars, inspired by the “You spin my life upside down around the moon” lyric.
‘TEARS’ – One Of Those Rigged Game Booths
With ‘TEARS,’ JIsoo reflects on the sadness that follows a relationship’s downfall, but insists that this will be the last day she lets herself sulk in that disappointment. We got our carnival attraction inspo from one of the song’s lyrics: “In your game, I was the loser. But that don’t mean you’ve won, you loser.” Naturally, since everyone is losing in some way, this track would have to be one of those ring toss or bottle knockdown games that are very poorly hiding the fact that they’re rigged against the players.
‘Hugs & Kisses’ – Whack-A-Mole
Our girl ‘Hugs & Kisses’ needs some hugs, maybe some kisses, and definitely some kind of outlet for her rightful frustration. Despite the romantic title, it’s all about knowing you deserve better in a relationship and deciding to walk away. Cue the Whack-A-Mole game with a giant hammer! There’s something so stress-relieving about these games, especially if there’s something specific that’s bothering you, like an unhealthy relationship.
‘EYES CLOSED’ – House Of Mirrors
Jisoo’s beautiful duet with ZAYN is all about staying present in a current love and not worrying about the past, which we think matches the way it’s so easy to get lost in a House Of Mirrors if you’re not focusing on your current path. “The past can’t hurt us if we don’t look,” and the mirrors you’ve passed can’t get you lost again if you keep looking forward… maybe.
