Drop Everything Now – We Need To Talk About The Easter Eggs in Taylor Swift’s ‘Bejeweled’ Video

It’s no secret to Swifties that Taylor is a ‘Mastermind’ and loves dropping clues for us, but her video for ‘Bejeweled’ is so jam-packed we barely know where to start! From hinting at the order of the re-recordings to the potential release date of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), we have so much to talk about. In fact, Taylor Swift has stated there’s an entire PDF of all the clues – she couldn’t keep track herself. Let’s dig in and see how much we can uncover!

The Haim Step-Sisters Were Enchanting

So maybe their attitude towards Cindy-swift wasn’t the best, but their cameo performance gave us quite a lot to work with. Not to mention Oscar winner Laura Dern… What an icon. Before we get into the nitty-gritty of the dialogue, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to point out a certain song playing in the background. That’s right, we’re on Speak Now TV, clue one! ‘Enchanted‘ isn’t the only Speak Now song to pop up in this video, but it sure did get us excited. After all, what’s a fairytale without a little enchantment?

After the track went viral on TikTok in 2021, fans have been desperate to get to hear Taylor’s ‘Enchanted’ re-recording. Could the time finally be coming up?

Do We Have A Re-Recording Schedule?

Did you happen to notice an emphasis on certain words in that opening dialogue? We know some of you definitely did! Is the “Speak not” code for Speak Now? Is the emphasis on the “clean” code for 1989? Was the snake reference a call back to reputation? Is this a reach? ‘Bejeweled’ has just left us with so many questions!

This isn’t the first time Taylor has teased us with both Speak Now and 1989-related clues. Could this be the elusive double album theory some Swifties have been speculating about? We’re not sure. There’s also some hype in Swiftieland that this may be hinting at the re-recordings release order. We’ll have to wait and see!

We also noticed several references to Taylor’s folk era, with Laura suggesting she’s in ‘exile’, which is soon to be over. Taylor’s spoken recently about the fact that while the folk era was fun, she’s had to hype herself up to return to pop music. Taylor certainly starts the video looking like she walked straight out of a folklore promo shot before she becomes ‘Bejeweled.’

We’re Seeing In Threes

We know Taylor Swift loves her lucky number 13. We also know from the ‘I Bet You Think About Me‘ music video that Taylor loves dropping numerical hints in her videos. In our love of all things detection, we noticed one number kept cropping up throughout this video. 3. Why is 3 significant, you ask? Well, Speak Now just so happens to be her third studio album. Here are some of the signs that stood out to us:

Taylor’s headed to the third floor! This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Taylor communicate to us through elevators, though. She’s previously done this in a music video where she was also headed to the thirteenth floor. What video? That’s right, ‘Ours,’ which is a single from – you guessed it – Speak Now. It’s all adding up!

This wasn’t the only elevator hint. Some of you noticed that the colors of the buttons in the lift, as well as the floor number indicator, reflected the release pattern of her albums. One fan has helpfully labeled it up for us!

If you’re being insane, we’re being insane together, friend. We see the vision!

Do you want even more threes? Okay. When Taylor reaches the 13th floor, we see her step out onto the stage, where exactly 3 spotlights are shining down, a stage suspiciously similar to that of the Speak Now World Tour. As the video closes, we also happen to see exactly 3 dragons, but we’ll get back to those later!

It’s In The Jewels

A ‘Bejeweled’ Taylor is seen wearing a necklace that’s pattern is similar to the jewel colors in the elevator. The colors on both the necklace and the bodysuit correspond with the colors of each of her previous albums including Midnights. We also see her pose with a purple earring. Purple and red for Speak Now, and its deluxe edition?

Taylor’s adorned with two sets of hair clips. One that displays her initials and the other S and N, which, if you’ve read this far, you know what it probably stands for!

“I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you…”

We couldn’t end this without talking about that last scene! Not only did we see 3 dragons, but the instrumental for ‘Long Live’ was playing in the background. Did you catch it? This scene was full of even more Easter eggs than we could count. Notable mentions include the ‘Haunted’ bell, the fireflies (sparks flying?), and a little glimpse of the Long Pond Studio. We can’t forget the Koi patterns in the windows, either! If you’ve read our analysis of the ‘Anti-Hero‘ music video, you’ll know the Koi are significant to a certain era!

We’d like to think that with almost every one of her previous albums getting a nod in this video, that we’re seeing Taylor has gotten the keys back for her castle, the proud owner of all of her work once more. Right, where she belongs!

Is The Countdown On?

While we’re so proud of Midnights and wouldn’t expect Taylor to give us anything more anytime soon, has she just dropped the date for Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)? We spoke before about Taylor’s ‘exile‘ ending soon, but some fans think they spotted the release date for her next project. With the clock hands on 12 and her exile ending in two days, there’s speculation that the next album is due December 2nd! We guess we’ll have to wait and see!

We’ll leave you with one last potential Easter egg, this visual of Taylor looking stunning in gold on the Speak Now World Tour seems very much like the golden dress she wears at the end of the music video. Look familiar?
