We officially have our first taste of LISA’s upcoming PRESS PLAY EP in the form of ‘SaWaDiKa,’ and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome her back! The title ‘SaWaDiKa’ comes from a Thai way of saying “hello” (usually romanized as “sawatdee ka”), making it the perfect way to kick off her new era. And this new era is gonna be hugeeee, so let’s talk about it.
Some of LISA’s most powerful work comes when she’s embracing her strength and unique identity – see ‘LALISA,’ ‘Rockstar,’ and ‘Fxck Up The World’ as some examples – and ‘SaWaDiKa’ follows suit as an unforgettable statement on her dedication and the success that’s come her way as a result of it. There’s a healthy dose of the ‘Money’-related rewards, like a watch from Geneva and an indigo Ferrari, sure, but LISA takes just as much pride in her character that brought her here. The first verse ends with a string of rhetorical questions that show just how focused and driven she’s been all along her musical journey, as well as how few people can match her energy despite wanting the same outcomes she’s earned:
“How many tryna ride my wave? How many want my name? How many got discipline? How many comprehend? How many that been where I been? How many get me from within?”
Something else we especially love about LISA’s standout work is how much love and appreciation she shows to her home country of Thailand! From filming videos like ‘SaWaDiKa’ in Bangkok and adding traditional Thai instruments to ‘LALISA,’ to commissioning custom outfits from Thai designers for her visuals, she takes every opportunity to showcase the beauty of Thailand and the people in it.
If ‘SaWaDiKa’ is only our introduction to PRESS PLAY, then we cannot wait to see what else LISA has in store for us on the EP, which drops October 23rd. Even besides the EP, there’s a lot to look forward to in the rest of 2026, Lilies! The Always Lalisa documentary will give us a closer look into LISA’s life and the creative process behind her debut solo album, Alter Ego, at the Toronto International Film Festival next weekend, then on a wider scale when it hits theaters on October 12th. She’ll then make history as the first K-Pop artist to perform their very own Las Vegas residency in November with VIVA LA LISA!
