Firstly, the title track ‘Eye-Poppin’’ is a total hyper-funk fever dream! Kyehoon helped pen these lyrics, and we are obsessed with the playful, bratty energy. It’s all about wanting someone’s attention so badly that you’re willing to be annoying just so they can’t look away. Phrases like “pop pop pop to be seen” are living rent-free in our heads. If wanting to be stuck to someone like glue is wrong, we don’t want to be right!
‘Twenty’
Then we have ‘Twenty,’ which was co-written by Donghyeon. This track feels like the ultimate anthem for anyone navigating the clumsy, exciting start of their 20s. In brief, it captures that strange breeze of change and the bittersweet feeling of saying goodbye to childhood. We tested this track on a sunset drive, and let us tell you—the vibes were immaculate. It’s actually the perfect spring song for the WeFlip fandom!
The Ultimate B-Side Buffet
The rest of the My First Kick tracklist is where the members really show off their growth as creators. ‘Stup!d’ is a total standout, with co-writers Donghwa and Donghyeon bringing that nerdy and proud energy. In fact, we love the message of not fitting into the steady side of life and just being a hero in your own chaotic way.
If you’re looking for something a bit more rebellious, ‘Backward’ will literally flip your world. Co-writer Kyehoon really leaned into the “rebel” theme here, with the lyrics literally saying “I do everything backwards.” It’s fun, unpredictable, and a total brain-scratcher in the best way!
For the fans who live on social media, ‘Scroll’ (co-written by Minje) is painfully relatable. Of course, we’ve all been there—scrolling through a feed all night, waiting for a notification, and accidentally increasing our screen time over a crush. Then, the energy shifts completely with ‘Roar.’ This track is pure adrenaline. Kyehoon and Donghwa really went hardcore co-writing on this one—it’s the kind of song that makes you want to get up and shout!
Finally, the album closes with ‘My Direction.’ This track is a beautiful, mid-tempo reminder that even when we’re lost, having the right people by our side makes the journey worth it. Kyehoon and Donghwa helped to deliver such healing lyrics here. It’s the perfect end to a skip-free masterpiece.
