Royal Summer By Kass Morgan

First up on our pre-summer book roundup, we have Royal Summer by Kass Morgan! It’s a lovely rom-com about Hannah, an American girl hoping to work for her favorite author in Scotland. But Hannah’s internship becomes upended when her role model suddenly leaves her to move to Japan. She loses all hope in her summer until a mysterious (and handsome) stranger somehow snags her a job working at the royal family’s castle in Inveresk. It isn’t long before Hannah realizes that this stranger is actually Finnian, the prince of England and a renowned party boy. And so their whirlwind summer romance kicks off. For fans of lake houses and sisterly love, we recommend Hazel Henry’s Sparks Fly! After three years, the Holliday girls have returned to their family vacation home in Laurel Lake. This story follows the points of view of two sisters, Georgia and Daisy, and their cousin, Eden. These girls want to make the most of their summer, but nothing goes quite as expected. Georgia’s plans to be with her long-distance boyfriend Rhys fall through. Daisy kisses her best friend Owen right before the trip and can’t stop thinking about it. Calypso’s Odyssey By Anna Ellison

Our next pre-summer book recommendation is Calypso’s Odyssey by Anna Ellison! If you couldn’t tell by the title, this book retells the story of Homer’s The Odyssey. It focuses on Calypso “Callie” Quinn, a girl who has never left her home on Catalina Island. She works at her father’s run-down inn, seemingly cursed when it comes to love. Every summer, she meets a boy, they have a spark, and then he leaves. Then she meets Odie, a boy who gets shipwrecked onto the island. They quickly fall in love, and Callie starts to believe things will end differently with Odie. But his secrets threaten their paradise, and the two of them face an impossible decision. Callie grapples with holding on to her summer love or setting herself free.
