It’s confirmed: summer is officially here thanks to mgk and Wiz Khalifa! They teamed up 13 years ago on the EST-favorite track ‘Mind Of A Stoner,’ and they’re bringing all the sunny vibes we could’ve dreamed of from a sequel with ‘girl next door.’ It’s a flirty song about falling for someone and not knowing whether either of you are quite ready to make it work, but you still wanna give it a shot and see anyway. “I felt love come near me then you walked away,” they sing on the chorus before a breezy sample of Sweet Trip’s ‘KKMJ’ interrupts, almost offering a response from the ‘girl next door’ they want: “I f*cked up, tell me what you wanna say.”
A song this unforgettable deserves a music video to match, and these two definitely went above and beyond this time. Directed by the beloved Sam Cahill and Gianni Paolo (who you’ll recognize from the Tickets To My Downfall VCR that plays on the lost americana Tour), the video follows mgk and Wiz as they try to impress two cute girls who move in next door to them, in a neighborhood that reminds us of the set from the lost americana album photoshoot. They lift weights on their front lawn, hold a cute cat, and even set up a little kiddie pool… but the girls wind up being a couple. No sweat, mgk says “type sh*t” as he daps them up and we bet they become good friends afterward!

mgk and Wiz have been teasing a collab project for a while now, and Mr. Wiz Khaleaker shared on a livestream that the initials of the title are B.E.B. – could the Blog Era Boyz moving van in the video be an Easter egg? We’re still technically in the lost americana era since the tour isn’t over, so the neighborhood connection we mentioned earlier and the fact that Blog Era Boyz is just on a van rather than taking over the whole theme would make sense.
Speaking of tour not being over, the lost americana show is about to get a little facelift now that Wiz Khalifa is a special guest at the upcoming dates! Based on what Colson said on a recent Discord Q&A with fans, we can expect to hear some of Wiz’s biggest hits and Kells’ set will be a little shorter to free up some time. We also expect them to perform some songs from the EP that may or may not be called Blog Era Boyz, so stay tuned and keep up on socials when the tour kicks back off on May 15th.
