That feeling of hearing your favorite songs sung in an intimate venue is simply indescribable. We spent our Friday night at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco alongside one of our favorite indie artists right now, Will Swinton. Will first came on our radar with the success of his song, ‘Daydream.’ Once we heard that song, we were hooked and found ourselves deep-diving into his discography. The second-best feeling? Finding out your favorite indie artist is going on tour. Here’s a recap of our night and our favorite fan moments.

Before the opening act took the stage, we secured a spot at the front of the venue and, of course, made friends along the way up. Even though we always enjoy a night out at an arena show, there is something to be said about hearing live music with just a handful of other people around you. There’s no pushing (we’ve all been there in large crowds), there’s no tall boyfriend standing in front of you, and there’s no competition for getting the artists’ attention. Our night at Cafe Du Nord was nothing short of wonderful, and we can’t wait to go back soon!
Opening The Night With Tyler Vincent
Before Will Swinton could take the stage, Tyler Vincent graced us with his original songs and a stellar cover of Zach Bryan’s ‘Something In The Orange.’ Even though we started the night not knowing any of Tyler’s songs, we left as new fans of his. That’s the best part of getting there early to see the opening act! If you’ve been on the hunt for an indie artist to follow (before they get mega famous), we recommend supporting Tyler Vincent – follow him here! What a treat it was to enjoy two amazing acts back to back.
Will’s Set
Off the heels of a successful performance at Lollapalooza, Will Swinton headed back on tour to perform for fans in intimate venues across the United States. At the top of the setlist was ‘Flames,’ and immediately we were drawn into Will’s set. Even though the venue was on the smaller side, Will’s aura completely enveloped the room, making us forget that we were surrounded by dozens of other people. This is a sign of a great live performer – someone who can capture each individual’s attention uniquely but also be able to bring all that differing energy into one moment shared by multiple people. We caught onto that feeling quickly. It was clear that Will could be playing a 320-capacity room venue or a 10,000-capacity arena, but that spark of live music would still feel the same. We can’t wait for the day that Will does take the stage in an arena!
Accompanying Will were two guitar players and one drummer – shoutout to his band for bringing the energy all night! Right away, we could tell that Will and his bandmates were having fun with our crowd. The fans in the front were screaming every word to songs like ‘Daydream,’ ‘Find A Way,’ and ‘Only One,’ and sporting his official tour merch with giant smiles on their faces. The joy in the room was so palpable that it was hard not to smile along. What’s a good concert without adoring fans, afterall?
The Memorable Moments
One of the best parts of the show was the band’s cover of ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ by U2. This cover came as such a surprise, but was welcomed openly by fans with loud cheers and clapping. Will’s guitar player even got his own mini solo during the song, with vocals that shocked everyone in the crowd (in the best way possible). The connection between all the musicians onstage, coupled with the adoration from fans in the crowd, made for a special night that we will never forget.
