Now that we’ve had a few days to process what might be one of our top five favorite movies of the year, let’s talk about Best of the Best! A love letter to Bollywood and the South Asian diaspora, this movie centers around two childhood best friends who join UCLA’s Bollywood-fusion dance team. We absolutely adored the diverse cast, the sisterhood, and of course, the routines.
Best of the Best features guest appearances from South Asian icons, including co-writer/co-producer Hasan Minhaj, Lilly Singh, Joya Kazi, Janina Gavankar, and so many more! We highly recommend you watch it for yourself. Until then, we’re here to talk about one of the our favorite things about Best of the Best: the movie soundtrack.
The massive soundtrack includes a mix of Bollywood classics, hip-hop hits, and even a few K-Pop tracks like BLACKPINK’s ‘JUMP’ and ENHYPEN’s ‘Brought the Heat Back.’ We’re sure you’ll find your next earworm through this new comedy dance movie. Here are five of our favorite songs from the Best of the Best soundtrack!

‘Tu Meri’ – Vishal Dadlani
We’re starting off strong with ‘Tu Meri’ by Vishal Dadlani, a high-energy dance track about falling in love and the magic that comes with it. It played when Maya (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) first meets Dimple and Deepica (Becky Alex and Shreya Navile) performing a TikTok dance in their dorm. She tries to correct them on their form, only to be reminded of her embarrassing past. This song was originally from the Bang Bang! soundtrack, a 2014 Bollywood action comedy movie inspired by the movies Knight and Day and Jaaneman.

‘Bom Diggy Diggy’ – Zack Knight, Jasmin Walia
Next, we have the song that played when Maya and Anjali (Priyanka Kedia) daydreamed of being a lead dancer: ‘Bom Diggy Diggy’ by Zack Knight and Jasmin Walia. During UCLA Agni’s first performance at the South Asian Student Association fall mixer, our two main characters are enamored by the dancers to the point of imagining themselves as the lead in their own Bollywood dreamscapes. Originally released in 2017, Zack Knight made a remix of this electro-R&B track for the 2018 Indian film, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.

‘Ghungroo‘ – Arijit Singh, Shilpa Rao
Another standout song from the Best of the Best soundtrack is ‘Ghungroo’ by Arijit Singh and Shilpa Rao. This track played during the dance club auditions, as well as the end credits. Each hopeful student had to perform ten rounds of the assigned choreography, with each round getting progressively faster. ‘Ghungroo’ is an addictive love song from the 2019 Indian film, War. We haven’t been able to get it out of our heads since (not that we’d ever want it to leave).

‘Big Dawgs’ – Hanumankind, Kalmi
Next, we have to give our flowers to ‘Big Dawgs’ by Indian rapper Hanumankind and producer Kalmi. Unless you’ve been living off the grid, you’ve probably heard this hip-hop banger on your timeline at least once since it released in 2024. ‘Big Dawgs’ played during USC Tamasha’s explosive performance at the regional qualifier in San Diego. We know they’re UCLA’s longstanding rivals, but we couldn’t help but dance along when this song came on. It’s bold and unapologetic, just like the USC dance team.

‘Zero’ – REHMA
Finally, we’ve got ‘ZERO,’ a 2026 release by Pakistani-American artist REHMA. This sultry, dark pop song played at the club after (spoiler alert!) the UCLA Agni discovered they made it to the Best of the Best championship competition. Maya and the rest of the team celebrated, dancing with one another in the middle of the dance floor and blissfully unaware of who all was watching. ‘ZERO’ has become our new obsession, and we’re definitely listening to REHMA’s entire discography after this.
