From her love of Twilight to her cozy-cool style, everything about Julia Wolf screams “fall” to us! And her music is definitely included in that, of course. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite Julia songs that will feel right at home on your favorite playlists this autumn, especially if you’ll be seeing her on the Deep End Tour soon! Grab your favorite warm drink and get ready to add these to your library faster than leaves falling down on a windy day.
‘lamb’ With Kellin Quinn
Of course, we have to start this off with a song that brings together two artists who always rule our fall listening habits. ‘lamb’ brings Julia together with Kellin Quinn for one of our dream collabs, venting about a relationship where they were mislead like a lamb being sent to slaughter. It’s such a fantastic fusion of both of their styles that’s full of engaging lyrics and impressive vocals. We neeeed this video turned into an actual game to play at some point – see if you can spot the references to ‘Sunshine State,’ ‘You’ve Lost A Lot Of Blood,’ Twilight, and Gilmore Girls! There are also some Sleeping With Sirens Easter eggs to look out for…
‘Last Summer’
The opening riff of ‘Last Summer’ feels like a chilly autumn breeze to us, and in turn, the lyrics give us goosebumps every time. That eerie riff lays under each verse, which describes feeling “half-alive” because of how someone treats her, while a similar, lighter-sounding one comes up shortly before the bridge, when Julia is pleading, “Let me go.” It’s as if she’s coming up for air after moments of “swimming under ice” and feeling trapped under this person’s influence, before she sinks yet again for the true bridge and final chorus. This is the perfect track for anyone grappling with tough summer memories or longing for new types of freedom!
‘Now’
Between the start of most school years and that looming winter arc trend, fall is the perfect time to put some work in towards your goals. Use ‘Now’ as your musical inspiration! Julia reflects on her journey towards her musical dreams throughout the song, being honest about how she felt like “an apparition most of [her] youth” but ultimately broke through to become who she wanted to be. And just look at her now, reaching new heights and getting more of the recognition she deserves!
‘Wishbone’
No need to wait for Thanksgiving to enjoy a little ‘Wishbone!’ Where the wishbone of a turkey has become a fun tradition for some families to snap and make a wish, Julia’s ‘Wishbone’ explores an unhealthy connection where she feels more like something for the subject to break rather than a cherished partner. We especially love how the production gets heavier when she sings, “Waited on your text to f*ck me up,” like how her reality gets heavier and harder to process when this person comes back and leads her on again.
‘WITH ME’ With John Summit
Need a little energy boost when the sun sets too early? We’re right with you, and John Summit’s ‘WITH ME’ featuring Julia should be, too! Despite the sad lyrics about missing someone and a lack of communication, it has fun, upbeat production that’s guaranteed to get you dancing. Let it be a reminder to say what you mean, find better ways to process your mistakes, and find ways to enjoy life in spite of what gets you down.
‘In My Room’
Julia’s viral hit is basically the official soundtrack to fall: “I like when it’s dark out, October will cure me.” Whether you love or hate the change in seasons, you can’t deny there’s something irresistible about a little room-rotting on a cool night, and the lyrics of ‘In My Room’ are so relatable for anyone who deals with insecurities in relationships. The yearning and frustration in those lyrics are exactly what’s made the internet fall in love with this song as hard as we have!
