Moving on from the land of the living, we’ve got I. V. Marie’s new prequel, Twisted Vows! Set 18 years before the start of The Souls of Blackwood Academy duology, this novella follows Wren and August and their origins at the academy. Blackwood students must learn the skills needed to guide lost souls to the Other Side. Wren’s the new girl, forced to work with resident bad boy August on a class project. August has his own reasons for getting close to Wren. But the closer they get, the more twisted everything becomes. Our next book recommendation for your Halloween reading list takes us back to Gilded Age New York. An Auction Of Souls By Amber Chen

You may be familiar with the next author, as we at THP have been following Amber Chen since her debut. Her newest book, An Auction of Souls, is an enchanting fantasy inspired by Chinese underworld mythology. This novel is the start of a new duology and follows Meng Lingxi, a girl who must travel to the ends of the earth in search of her grandmother, who disappeared after a traveler tried to sell a soul at the family’s auction house.
