As we transition into fall, we’re slowing things down just a little here on THP’s book team. It’s back-to-school season and soon-to-be spooky season, giving us plenty of events and activities to look forward to. Another reason to get excited is for these upcoming September audiobook releases!
It’s time to welcome the new season with our latest Sweet Listens. From a bubbly adult romance to a dark romantasy, here are four September audiobooks to add to your playlist!

A Study In Sparking By Jodi McAlister
Our first September audiobook is Jodi McAlister’s newest adult romance, A Study in Sparkling! This book takes place in the same universe as An Academic Affair, with lovely cameos from Sadie and Jonah. A Study in Sparkling follows Jonah’s sister, Fiona Fisher, a recently separated single mom whose ex left her for his secret second family. She’s not looking for a new relationship, but she can’t deny how drawn she feels to the owner of her favorite wine bar, Satoshi Tsukamoto. The only problem is that he’s eight years younger than Fiona, and she doesn’t know if she can trust anyone so soon. We thoroughly enjoyed the progression of their romance, from crushing and casually meeting to committing and confessing real feelings.

Deadly Little Lessons By Danielle Valentine
Switching gears from a bubbly adult romance, we have Danielle Valentine‘s new YA thriller: Deadly Little Lessons. Lia Michaels is prepared to leave her past of delinquent behavior behind her. And Luminary Prep, a new experimental school, seems like the perfect place for a fresh start. With a class of 50 students, only five will be able to graduate and get a free ride to their dream school. The only strings attached are the dangerous and unconventional lessons in each class. Lia must disarm explosives in Chemistry, endure a deadly obstacle course in Physics, and more. As students fail the assignments and promptly disappear from the class list, Lia digs into the school’s dark secrets before she’s the next to go.

Daughter Of The Dark By R.J. Valldeperas
The next September audiobook is R.J. Valldeperas‘ newest release, Daughter of the Dark! It’s a dark romantasy that’s the first in her series of interconnected standalones called Daughters of Auquis. This installment follows a demon slayer named Solana who dreams of leaving her cursed land. When she’s summoned to the king and offered the title of Royal Demon Hunter, Solana not only gets closer to freedom, but also to a darkness that calls to her soul. She reluctantly works alongside Reyes, the king’s right hand man and someone she loathes to no end. The narrator, Gisela Chípe, blew us away with this audiobook, and we’re locked in for the rest of the series.

The Siren By Tomi Adeyemi
Finally, we have Tomi Adeyemi’s new dark academia, The Siren, read by the author herself! When Emery makes it to Dartmouth College, she only has three rules: keep her scholarship, take her medication, and not let anyone find out about her past. But everything changes when she meets a mesmerizing girl named Roux, her equally charming stepbrother Eli, and “The Sirens.” Before joining the Sirens, these girls were social outcasts. Now, they’re part of a group of beautiful girls whose lives on campus are marked by luxury and private parties. Emery wants in, and she’ll do anything she can to get what she wants, even if it means putting her life on the line. We could not keep our jaws off the floor while listening to this audiobook.
