As we close out the month of May, we’re going back to a book series we’ve been following for the last year. Kait Ballenger‘s Original Sinners trilogy is a spicy romantasy series set in modern-day New York City. The Seven Deadly Sins are an elite class of billionaires who run the city (and who ultimately bring about its complete and utter ruin).
Beautiful Redeemer is the conclusion to the trilogy, picking up right after book two, Wicked Believer. Charlotte, Lucifer, and Azrael face new challenges, not just within their twisted love triangle but also with the safety of humanity as they know it.
Their enemies want to unleash the apocalypse and usher in a new universe. It will cost this trio everything if they want to save the world. We’ve kept you waiting long enough; here are three things we love about Beautiful Redeemer by Kait Ballenger!

Book Overview: Beautiful Redeemer
Content warnings: death, family deaths, mass murder, graphic violence, torture, religious genocide, heavy themes of religious trauma, discussion of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, stalking, drug use, drinking, forced marriage, pregnancy, and swearing (Please read at your discretion!)
Summary: I never asked to be the queen of Hell, but now the crown burns against my skin—and every choice drips with sin.
Lucifer, my devil of a husband, feeds me power kiss by kiss, lash by lash. Azrael, Death incarnate, tempts me with the brutal devotion only he can give. They both worship me. They both ruin me. And I can’t get enough.
I won’t be made to choose.
But indulgence has its price. The apocalypse is splitting the sky. The Righteous hunt us with holy fire, and New York drowns. On the eve of my unholy wedding, all the armies of Heaven descend and all-out war begins. My greatest weapon is the impossible child growing inside me: the secret that could save or damn us all.
To protect humanity and seize my dark salvation, I’ll fight. I’ll bleed. I’ll burn. And when the last seal shatters, I’ll rise again…or stay on my knees forever.
A True Love Triangle
We didn’t want to spoil the new love interest’s name in book two, but we hope you’ve caught up by now. Beautiful Redeemer gives us a “why choose” romance between Charlotte, her fiancé Lucifer, and her new partner Azrael. It helps to know that Azrael and Lucifer are ex-lovers, making this love triangle even more juicy and spicy in all the ways. Their push-and-pull tension is irresistible to us (and to Charlotte, it seems). It’s been rare for us to find a true love triangle like theirs, even if we did catch a whiff of second lead syndrome in some scenes.
Betrayals & Twists
As one might be able to expect from a book about the Seven Deadly Sins, Lucifer and his siblings rarely play fair. One of them helps open the second seal to unleash the apocalypse. Conversely, Charlotte’s side gains a much-needed ally from one of the archangels who doesn’t agree with their brother Michael’s plan. We were surprised at both reveals. Their divine and dysfunctional family drama makes for some earth-shattering destruction (literally). And by the time we got to the final battle in Beautiful Redeemer, we weren’t sure how our three main characters would fare.
The Road To Redemption & Mercy
Another thing we love about Beautiful Redeemer is the overarching theme that connects redemption and mercy. Throughout the series, Lucifer has been trying to win his Father’s redemption and gain back his powers. Meanwhile, Charlotte has been trying to let go of the shame she’d been conditioned into believing by her father and his church. The two of them are pushed to the brink of their mortal and immortal limits in this book, and it’s truly for a worthy cause. They both ultimately find mercy for themselves and others, which concludes this trilogy beautifully.
Kait Ballenger’s Beautiful Redeemer concludes her spicy romantasy series with a true love triangle, plenty of plot twists, and a merciful ending. It has everything we could’ve asked for in book three.
