May has been a great month for sequels, as we have already seen! Jade Presley proves it even further with her new release, The Kings’ List! The latest in the Never List series, this novel picks up right after the cliffhanger ending in book one.
The Kings’ List follows Rylee Gray and the four Legends of Chaos on another heart-pounding, high-stakes journey. They face the rebel group called the Faders as well as a mysterious enhancement plaguing their people. And all of it is so the four kings of Lumathyst can see that they’re fit to rule the kingdom.

Book Overview: The Kings’ List

Summary: I survived the Choosing. I claimed my mates. I became immortal. But the kings weren’t finished with us yet.
Four princes. Four thrones. And a final season designed to decide if we’re worthy to rule. Every task is a test. Every smile is a lie. The people judge. The council votes. And the kings are waiting for us to fail.
I was never meant to be queen. I was an Ashlander who broke into a palace searching for her sister. Now I stand beside the Legends of Chaos, holding power the kingdom fears and love fierce enough to burn it all down.
To win the crowns, we’ll have to survive the Kings’ List.
Failure isn’t an option.
Because this time, we’re not just fighting for the throne—we’re fighting for each other.
Rylee Levels Up
While Rylee tries to hide her own powers in the first book, she must now hide that she holds all four princes’ powers in The Kings’ List. After what happened at the end of The Never List, Rylee now possesses the supernatural abilities of her four mates: Jax, Pierce, Kal, and Axl. She learns how to control such divine powers, giving them freely to her partners as well as containing them to avoid suspicion. And after months of training (among other types of exercises), Rylee truly steps into a new, stronger version of herself. The four Legends of Chaos would argue that she’s always had that strength in her all along.
A Thickening Plot
Beyond fulfilling the requirements on the actual Kings’ List, we learn that there are other, darker forces at play. Mysterious deaths have stumped the kingdom’s healers for weeks. No one knows what’s causing them. The Faders also have their hands on a toxic substance that can kill those with powers and enhance those without. No one knows who’s supplying the rebels. As Rylee and the four princes overcome each trial, they get closer to the answers and people they seek. One prince in particular finds himself at the scene of yet another illegal cliffhanger ending. We can’t even be mad at this point because we’re already too excited for the next book!
The Princes (Yes, That’s It.)
Finally, The Kings’ List does exactly what a “why choose” romance sets out to do. The four love interests are bonded to Rylee by a magic set forth by their goddess mothers. They respect her insight and trust her with their entire beings, which is absolutely crucial in this book. The four of them tend to Rylee’s needs as lovers while also treating her as an equal ruler. They’re the dream team, and we don’t doubt that their reign will change Lumathyst for the better. Of course, we can always appreciate the spicy scenes between Rylee and any of the princes, whether it’s Kal, Jax, Axl, or Pierce. (Or any combination of the four, really.) We can’t pick our favorites, but luckily we don’t have to choose in this book.
Jade Presley’s The Kings’ List gives us a super spicy, “why choose” romantasy. From the leveled-up characters and the thickening plot all the way to the cliffhanger ending, we devoured this sequel!
