The Honey Pop had the privilege of interviewing the extremely talented, rising Pop superstar Avery Cochrane. She has everything you want in an artist: talent, creativity, ambition, and drive. You may have heard her track, ‘Shapeshifting on a Saturday Night,’ on the new hit Amazon Prime Series Off Campus; the track currently sits at 403K views on YouTube, and we are so proud!
We talk to Avery, all about the high coming off of having a track featured on a TV show, her newly released track ‘Toy Gun,’ the announcement of her new album Vengeance Through My Omnipresence, as well as her tour, Weapons Of Iridescence Tour, which she is currently on. Psst, as of the time this article is being posted, Avery only has two more shows left on her tour, set for October 21st and November 7th. Get your tickets before you miss the chance to see her live.
Now let’s get to the interview!

Hi Avery, and welcome to The Honey Pop! We are super excited to talk to you about the announcement of your debut album, but first, we are really dying to know how it feels going from singing at a seafood restaurant to having one of your very own songs, ‘Shapeshifting on a Saturday Night,’ on a popular piece of media, because you really did speak into existence that your music, we’d like to say, is peak cinema. Secondly, if your newest track, ‘Toy Gun’ could be on any show you watched growing up, which show would it be?
Hearing ‘Shapeshifting’ in Off Campus was special because I knew it would change my life, even if it was just in a small way. It expanded my listenership tenfold, and brought in fans I would have not otherwise reached that quickly. Also it was rad just to get that validation that my music can be a part of mainstream media, a belief I was always too shy to vocalize, but held deep down. I could see “Toy Gun” in the Gossip Girl soundtrack, in a moment of liberation for Blair or Serena. I also adored Phineas and Ferb as a kid, and I know that the show creator is active on TikTok, supporting small artists with kind comments. I’m sure Dr. Doofenshmirtz has been plotting some kind of bubble gun related scheme to take over the Tri State Area.
Our favorite line from ‘Toy Gun’ is “I booked a ticket to your guilt trip once every month.” We think that’s super clever, and really hits the nail on the head about what the song is about. What would you say is the best way to break away from a relationship like this, and what is something you can learn about yourself after breaking free?
I think it’s all a matter of taking a leap into the unknown. Being comfortable in a relationship for so long, especially an unhealthy one, can make that leap seem so scary, but once you take it, it’s the most freeing feeling in the world. Breaking loose is necessary to start one’s self-love journey. I learned that I’m a lot more independent than I ever gave myself credit for, while simultaneously understanding that human connection is a fundamental human necessity. It’s all about balance and two things can be true. People can be in healthy, happy relationships and still maintain their autonomy and embrace every intricate aspect of their personalities that make them outstanding.
We loved the MV, you looked so care free, tell us your favorite memory of shooting it!
I didn’t have much budget for the video, which honestly worked in my favor because I got to take on a lot of creative producing, alongside my best friends Emma and Marlena. We shot it on a super hot LA Sunday, ironically at a friend’s exes house (they’re on good terms). My favorite memory was filling up the heart shaped kiddie pool with cold hose water, my friends and I splashing it on each other’s freshly made-up faces. It was special to be on such a small set with people I consider all close friends.
Okay, now let’s dive right into talking about the album, because if ‘Toy Gun’ is any indication of what your future sounds like, we are super excited! So can you tell us what else we should expect from the album?
Yay! You can definitely expect more songs with fun production a la Toy Gun, but honestly, the lyrical content isn’t necessarily a match. Most of the songs are introspective and sad. Of course you can still shake ass to all of them.
You have a really fun concept with COCH-TOBER, tell us something fun about the album!
One of my favorite songs from the album, “Supersonic!” was written with my producer Petro in London. We were in town for my UK debut, following a Grecian vacation with all of our friends, and immediately after landing, we caught the “ABBA Voyage” hologram show. The next day, inspired by big choruses and cascading synth lines, we hit the studio. If you had told me a year ago that I would be the kind of musician who got to write songs in foreign countries, I would’ve told you to go to hell. This is truly the dream.
We’re super intrigued by the name of the album,Vengeance Through My Omnipresence, can you tell us what it means to the storyline of the album, and what made you land on this name?
Vengeance Through My Omnipresence was a little lyric I came up with two summers ago, inspired by an inevitable need to get back at someone who wronged me years prior. Releasing an album is inherently omnipresent. If I’m lucky, it’ll be on playlists and radio stations worldwide, leaving my opponents no choice but to hear my voice and its stories. However, this notion of seeking and achieving revenge via renown and success, I’ve found, is all a means to an end. It’s all null and void without unconditional self love. That’s what the final two tracks explore.
You have a 13-show tour, Weapons Of Iridescence Tour, starting October 3rd; were you preparing for the tour at the same time you were writing the album? Do you have a pre-show ritual or playlist prepared?
I have an amazing team of agents at CAA, who were working closely with my manager to plan this tour, so luckily, I got to take a backseat when it came to the logistics, something not a lot of small artists have the privilege of doing. My main prep was a lot of shopping and singing, which is all a girl could dream of. I was in recording sessions for the album up until the day of my flight to go back to Seattle to start rehersal. I have several pre-show playlists made for the house music for listeners and concert goers to enjoy before my support acts and I hit the stage. Personally though, I always get hyped with a pre-show band huddle in wich we yell “Coch’s Up!” in three. My band and I have an incredible bond. They’ve been playing with me since summer 2024, and we’ve since become family. From post-soundcheck dinners to budget hotel hot tub hangs, they never fail to help me foster an all-supportive environment in-between shows. Making the music we play together on stage even more special.

We know it’s probably hard to pick a favorite stop for the tour, so do you have an itinerary of places you’re hoping to go to at every tour stop?
I imagined a tour as the opportunity to sightsee and eat every local specialty in sight, but now that I’ve been on the road for two weeks, I’ve realized there isn’t much time to stop and explore in every city. Don Henly from the Eagles said more or less the same thing a few months ago when he played The Sphere in Vegas. He said, even though he’s been to every major city worldwide he never got to actually see the world. Though this is just a 13 city North American tour, I completely understand what he was saying now. This all being said, I really adored the rainy wharf in Old Town Alexandria (D.C.), the hole in the wall cheesesteak joint (Philly), walking behind scurrying Harvard students on their way to class (Boston), watching an intense pick-up ping-pong match at a corner park on the Lower East Side (New York), watching the cruise ship passengers step out for lobster dinner (Portland), practicing my french at a disco bar downtown (Montreal), enjoying Canadian Thanksgiving Dinner with my band at a sports bar with a prefixed menu (Toronto), blasting Eminem post-show with my band in the van (Detroit), and hearing the boys nerd out about the Chicago Music Exchange after I had solo-escaped to a cozy local bookstore. Denver is our next stop, I’m excited to see what beauty I can find in our twelve hour stay there.
Do you have any parting words you’d like to say to your listeners, new and old? Please give us a little sneak peek of what we should expect from Avery Cochrane for the remainder of 2026.
Just thank you so much for being here and for listening to my words. It all starts and ends with the fans, and I would be nowhere without you. You can expect one to two more singles off the album before the end of the year, with more DIY music videos and visuals. I hope you can see the relentless passion that goes into the project, from both myself and from my team. Once the tour is over, I’m going to start preparing the vinyl pressing and music video treatments. Cochs up!
