Find Your Niche Aesthetic Based On Smallpools’ Ghost Town Road

That’s right. Smallpools just released their EP Ghost Town Road and needless to say, we’re obsessed with it. So much so that we would consider ourselves experts on each of the songs by now. Want us to prove it? Let us guess which niche aesthetic fits you best based on your favorite song. If we’re wrong, we at least have the prompt for your next extremely specific Pinterest board, Spotify playlist, etc.

‘Swayze’ – ’80s Film Connoisseur

This one should come as no surprise, given the Dirty Dancing reference. If this is your favorite song on Ghost Town Road, you’re probably an artist. Whether your weapon of choice is a paintbrush, a film camera, or maybe a lump of clay, we know you’re not afraid to get creative. We’re picturing either the black turtleneck-plaid blazer combo or you stick to bright colors (yellow?). We’re aware that these are contradictory, but both are artsy. So we stand by our decision.

‘Night Shift’ – American Gothic

All it took to know Ghost Town Road would be your favorite EP was seeing the title. Because you love a good horror movie aesthetic. You’ve read all the best gothic stories and you’re always on the hunt for more. Given that ‘Night Shift’ is the most classic “ghosty” song on the EP, it might as well have been written for you. You were drawn to the lines like “It’s the devil’s hour in a soulless town” and “We’re all vampires.”

‘Fake a Happy Face!’ – Beach Aesthetic

If ‘Fake a Happy Face!’ is your favorite song, nothing can keep you down. You may be going through it, as are Smallpools in this song, and we apologize for that. But we applaud your ability to pick yourself up! You love to escape to the beach or to your favorite summer getaway town. There’s certainly no faking a happy face there. Or when you forget all your problems and dance to this song!

‘Motorbike (Wild Ones)’ – Teenage Dirtbag

Yes, we’re using this as an aesthetic. Because everyone who loves the song ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ should have an entire playlist dedicated to it. And this song should be on it. This one is a bit broad, because everyone who is or has ever been a teenager can make it fit to your life. But ‘Motorbike (Wild Ones)’ is all about that time you felt invincible. And if that doesn’t describe your teenage years… Besides, this song doesn’t leave the aesthetic to your imagination. “Ripped up t-shirt on the seat.” “Drunk on gasoline igniting.” “Road map folded in your jeans.” It’s all right in front of us.

‘Caller ID’ – Nature Lover/Adventurer

You are one with the grass and the wind. You love exploring the woods by your house or sitting by the lake. If given the choice, you would always be outside. And you never say no to an adventure. How do we know this? Because you had quite the adventures with the person ‘Caller ID’ reminds you of. You know, the one who you drove “through the redwoods” with? With “blankets in the back” and “constellations through the sunroof?” In fact, you’re probably into stars, too. And if you relate to ‘Caller ID’ that hard, you should maybe let this person go.
