What are your main musical influences?
I have a lot of musical influences, but the main ones would be Adele, Demi Lovato, and Sam Smith. Lewis Capaldi has entered the hypothetical group chat too. Out of them all though, Adele is basically my icon. She was the first artist I’d ever heard who sounded different than what I was used to hearing on the radio, and the first artist I’d ever seen that reminded me of myself. Adele coming onto the scene is truly what propelled me forward in pursuing my music.
The line-up of my dream festival
It would certainly be a mixed bag. It would have to include Adele, Nicki Minaj, Lewis Capaldi, Demi Lovato, Noah Cyrus, Drake, Teddy Swims, Sam Smith, Maren Morris, Ingrid Andress and the self love queen, Lizzo.
Go-To Starbucks Order
I’m not a huge coffee drinker, but I’m Starbucks obsessed! If it’s cold out, it has to be a Caramel Apple Spice with extra caramel, no whip. But if it’s warm, then it’s definitely a Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade! On top of that, like any true fan, I can’t go to Starbucks without getting a vanilla bean scone or a cake pop.
Are you heading out on tour?
Due to COVID, I unfortunately don’t have solid dates yet! But one day in the future I sure will be.
How long have you been on your musical journey?
I performed for the first time in 2014. I was pretty terrified to be honest. I had so much anxiety backstage, but as soon as I stepped in front of the microphone I kind of had this surreal feeling wash over me. All of my anxiety melted away and I felt completely at home up there. Now, being on stage is my favourite place to be!
It wasn’t until 2015 that I finally performed an original song while competing in a songwriting / singing competition. It was actually during that time that I created the name Lauren Haze, and became really clear on my goals and aspirations as an artist.
Biggest Goal As An Artist
It is definitely to perform at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. I have been to so many concerts there throughout my life, and no matter who’s performing I always get soooo emotional at one point or another. I’ve always envisioned myself singing there one day.
Make a song with someone dead or alive
I think Lewis Capaldi and I would write a phenomenal song, and sing an even more phenomenal duet. Lewis, if you’re reading this… DM me! 😉
