What made you realize you wanted a career in music? How old were you when you realized this was what you wanted to do?
Music has always been something I love to do. I remember in middle school telling my parents I would do whatever it takes to make it a career! Everyone always told me that the odds are one in a million, but I’m very determined and haven’t stopped making music since!

With your mom being a musician like yourself and music always being in your veins, how do you think it influenced your musical journey?
Of course! My grandparents were also musicians and singers and toured when they were young in a gospel trio, and then my mom followed in their footsteps. It is 100% in my blood to love music, and it has helped being surrounded by people who understand the dream.

You’re a pop/country artist, but are there any other genres you love and would like to experiment with one day?
I honestly would love to collaborate with all genres! I think one thing I love about my voice is that it can be a chameleon and transform into any genre. Indie would be so fun! R&B, contemporary Christian, even an EDM dance track I would love to feature on!

Your recent single, ‘Glow,’ has a stellar line-up. How did you bring all the female talent together?
Thank you! I reached out to a bunch of artists that I had been following that I just knew were so talented, and I also reached out to women that I had written with before and supported my music, and I wanted to do the same for them.

‘Glow’ is not only a very empowering anthem, but it was also created by all females all the way to production! When creating something like this, how different is the atmosphere compared to other projects you’ve worked on?
This project was surrounded by the most amazing energy ever. I have never felt such joy, support, and even emotions working on a song. It just all came together so beautifully, and I couldn’t be more proud of every woman who made it happen!

And it was released in honor of Women’s History Month, is there a figure from history who you find an inspiring role model or whose footprints have impacted your life?
There are so so many! But I’ll mention a few in the music industry. Dolly Parton really revolutionized the industry for female singers and songwriters, and Shania Twain paved the way for crossover country, and I have looked up to them for so long.

In 2020, where all our lives slowed down for a while and gave us “time,” is there anything you’ve learned about yourself during lockdown?
I learned how to be very honest with what I need and want in life. Especially when it comes to my career! It gave me so much time to think about what I want my music to say, sound like, and make people feel. I just want to be real and honest and present myself in a way that people know anything they are feeling that they are not alone.

When creating something new, where do you derive your inspiration, are there any unique artforms or muses that help in the process?
I love to look up quotes about emotions. I’m also a really good listener and love to hear how people are doing and what they go through. It gives me so much inspiration because everyone is experiencing different things that need to be shared with the world.

In your Instagram bio, you have “Music • Travel • Fashion,” what’s been your favorite place you’ve traveled to so far? Is there a place you want to visit that you haven’t been to once we can go back to a “normal?”
I really loved Iceland and Italy! I would go back in a heartbeat if I could. When things are open and back to normal, I can’t wait to go back to Europe. I haven’t been to Spain, and that is definitely on my bucket list!

How have your travels inspired your music? What songs have you written that contain inspiration from one of your favorite trips?
The one thing I always take away from a trip is that life is short and the best use of our time is with the ones we love. I have a few new songs coming out soon that tie back into that idea!

What can we expect from you this year, any EPs or albums in the works?
I have so many songs coming out this year and who knows maybe an EP to top it all off!
