Our newest lovable addition to the series is the power-pop British band LOVEBREAKERS! Formed by Jack, Christian, David & Nathan in 2017 in Birmingham, England, LOVEBREAKERS released Social Hell on 12’’ vinyl through their own DIY label Sabbath City Records. The EP garnered good reviews and appreciation from its listeners and left us craving more music. LOVEBREAKERS have released their newest single ‘Laura’ that features on their upcoming debut record Primary Colours, set to release later this month.

LOVEBREAKERS sum up themselves as “A creative jumble of music, art and love.” They are currently on the road touring and supporting Social Distortion across the UK and Europe, hoping to build and support the fragile music scene after difficult times post-lockdown. We all have been missing the thrill of live music and couldn’t be happier to see the concerts and gigs coming back!

While we enjoy the new track ‘Laura,’ let’s get into our exclusive interview with LOVEBREAKERS about all things music, upcoming projects and serve you the inside scoop that we got exclusively for you!

Newest single: When is it out? Where can we stream it?

Our new single ‘Laura’ is out now on all the digital streaming platforms.

What are your main musical influences?

Timeless Rock n Roll Music – Tom Petty, Social Distortion, The Replacements, The Clash, The Jam,

What is the funniest thing to have ever happened to you on tour?

During recording our debut record Primary Colours, our drummer had the worst ever haircut. Day 1 into recording and he needed a “trim” so he visited one of the cheapest/roughest hairdressers in LA. He asked for a low fade but they did it as high as the sky can reach. It was his own fault, we’ll never go back, 0/5 on trip advisor.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

We all love The Lighthouse Family [at the LOVEBREAKERS] and we always have a Lighthouse Family session in the van. Don’t diss those guys, it’s pure feel-good pop.

What would you say is your biggest goal as an artist?

Bands need to be brought back to the forefront of the industry. There’s too much of one thing at the moment and hardly anything seems truthful or relatable. I know I’m biased, but a great live band who put their heart on their sleeve appeal to me so much more and I would love our band to be a part of the uprising.

If you could make a song with any other artist, who would you pick and why?

Tom Petty. I can imagine a really chilled studio environment, having some drinks and having a giggle. I’d pick his brains on a few musical things and write an absolute banger with him.

Is there a song that you wish that you had written?

“Hey Ho Let’s Go” by The Ramones – because it defined an era and sparked so many great bands. It’s iconic

Is there an instrument you don’t play but wish you could?

Saxophone because it’s the sexiest instrument

Are you heading out on tour soon? Where can we buy tickets?

We head out on tour with Social Distortion in June and July 2021. You don’t wanna miss out on this opportunity. Hurry up and snag your tickets from Songkick here.

What does a typical day in the studio look like for you?

Our general writing process is I usually write a verse and chorus (and a bridge if I’m lucky!) on an acoustic guitar and I send the band a rough demo to listen to. In most cases, I try and also send a reference track for feel or arrangement. Once we get together in our studio, we jam out the idea and voila.

What is your go-to comfort TV show?

Who is on the line-up of your dream festival?

Queen, Green Day, The Who and Rage Against the Machine for a good ol’ mosh!

We are The Honey POP so we love all things sweet! What’s the sweetest moment of your career been so far?

Recording a debut record in LA was a “bucket list” moment for all of us. As soon as the opportunity arose we jumped at the chance. We started tracking the record from the moment we landed and it was finished in about 3 weeks. Everything about those 3 weeks was so positive and we think this reflects in the record. We rented a beach house in Balboa (Newport Beach) which was about a 10-minute journey to Hurley Studios. Each morning we would walk down the beachfront and have breakfast at “Balboa Lily’s”. It was the perfect way to start a full day of recording. We got pretty close with the amazing guys who work there and to this day, we remain in touch. I just think with the sun shining, the LA palm trees, the smell of the sand and sea, put us all in a really good mindset to create a really upbeat, positive record. Our producer Davey Warsop is an absolute dream to work with. Before we set out to LA he set us some goals to work towards which helped us gather a lot of material to work from. We were so glad we did that because we had plenty of creative options and nothing felt limited. Recording with Davey was so much fun. He’s a very talented producer and also a great human being. Having someone enthusiastically positive and someone who believes in your music added to this “positive stirring pot” which we were creating around us. He understood our vision straight away and channelled the direction for this record. We were all fans of his music as much as he was a fan of ours, so it fitted perfectly.
