KIDD G DOWN HOME BOY

Genre-blending has become more of a common practice with musicians, but country-emo-rap is pretty visionary. Why do you find it essential to include these specific genres?
I guess inspiration can be found anywhere. I’m a big believer in creating music without boundaries or limits. I have fun with it and see where the music takes me. To some, it may seem an unusual combination, but for me, I see it as expressing myself.

You’ve mentioned there’s no telling if you’ll stay in this genre blend or if you’ll explore other combinations. What genres are you most excited to experiment with?
I like to be experimental with my music, I love pushing boundaries and trying new and exciting things. Part of the beauty of that is that you just don’t know what tomorrow will bring, I’m not even sure what’s next in store for my musical sound, and that excites me.

As a young artist, what kind of advice would you give to someone pursuing a music career that you wish you knew prior to your start?
Never give up on yourself, nor your dreams, as life is too short. Don’t miss out on what you could’ve been. Stay grounded, stay focused, and most of all, do what you love, and the rest will follow.

Your social media following is incredible. It can sometimes be tricky to find a balance with social media, and there can be positives and negatives that can come with it. How do you approach it?
As a musician, the main focus I have is to make the best music I possibly can. Social media can be a toxic place at times, and I don’t let any negative comments get to me. I’ve always been that way. I guess my mindset is that whatever you do in life, not everyone is going to like and appreciate you. You just have to try and focus on the nice things people are saying and use the negatives as motivation.

There are many positive sides to social media. What is it about social media that you enjoy, and what matters the most to you when connecting on social media?
Social media means a lot to me. For me, it’s one of the best ways to connect with my fans, which I adore. In the modern age of music, social media is one of the most important tools for success as it allows you to grow a following and a fan base as well as gives you a platform to post any new content, whether that be music or opinions, or even random pictures. It all helps and shows fans an insight into who you are as a person.

You’ve linked with some seriously relevant and talented artists, including Lil Uzi Vert and Colt Ford. Who else can we look forward to you joining forces with? What about your dream collaborations?
I’m looking forward to working with any artist that respects me and my music. I have a wide range of influences and people that I admire and would love to work with.

You use your life as an influence on your lyrics. What do you want your fans to take away from your music, and specifically your lyrics?
Live your life to the fullest and always have fun.

What do you think sets you apart from the other young front runners of the industry?
I believe that my versatility sets me apart from other young front runners. I am not afraid to combine genres that historically have not been combined before, especially from a mainstream point of view. The lack of fear I have in making music and the boundaries I’m willing to push in order to get a sound I like is something that you won’t see in many other artists.

How do you find a balance between your professional life and being a typical teenager?
I live both at the same time. I’m very lucky that I get to do a job, which is also my passion. I still have a close group of friends and have time to do other things I enjoy. It’s just that music takes up most of the time, something I definitely won’t be complaining about, as I love it.

What are your major goals, both professionally and personally?
My whole work ethic and mindset is just about improving every single day. I want to be the best version of myself that I can be, whether that’s making the best music I can possibly make or being the best person I can possibly be. I don’t set specific goals as such; I prefer looking back after a period of time and seeing how far I’ve come. And the best way to get as far as you can is by working hard and being a good person each and every day.

Not only is he an extraordinary and unique artist that is sure to have a long and vivacious career, but Kidd G’s vibe is just another thing about him that we absolutely adore.
