LE SSERAFIM’s debut was one of the most anticipated in 2022, and they didn’t disappoint at all with ‘FEARLESS’ as their title track. So, of course, we’ve been looking forward to their first-ever comeback ever since then, and here it finally is! LE SSERAFIM is back with ‘ANTIFRAGILE’ and affirms themselves further already as one of the biggest girl groups of the 4th gen. If you didn’t fall in love with them with ‘FEARLESS,’ it is never too late to get into LE SSERAFIM!
The Title Track
‘ANTIFRAGILE’ doesn’t sound anything like their debut, and somehow that makes it even more memorable. LE SSERAFIM is really not trying to be predictable, and we love it. While the two songs are quite different, that doesn’t mean they don’t have the same energy. Don’t get us wrong: ‘ANTIFRAGILE’ has that same bold, unapologetic, and sassy feel that we loved from ‘FEARLESS.’ If anything, they take it to a whole new level.
With a strong reggeaton beat and influence in general, ‘ANTIFRAGILE’ is so catchy, and it gets better with every single listen. And what’s even better about it is that, even though LE SSERAFIM were monster rookies from day one, ‘ANTIFRAGILE’ really lets them shine individually and show even more of their talent. Watching the performance, it is incredible to think that these girls have been in a group for less than a year. The chemistry and the amount of talent it off the roof.
What makes ‘ANTIFRAGILE’ even better is the fun and quirky music video, where the girls literally prove they’re unstoppable and unbreakable. With their first comeback, LE SSERAFIM made it clear that they’re far from being a one-hit wonder, and they’re here to stay for a long time. And we couldn’t be more in love with them.
Starting the mini-album with a powerful and bold intro, ‘The Hydra,’ LE SSERAFIM’s second mini-album gives us absolute gems as b-sides. And you would think that it’s hard to live up to such a massive and impactful title track as ‘ANTIFRAGILE,’ but LE SSERAFIM killed it. ‘Impurities’ shows another side of confidence than the one showcased in the title tracks. The lyrics are all about being vulnerable and opening up, and therefore being comfortable enough in their own skin to share every part of them – even the flaws. Along with a vibey RnB track, ‘Impurities’ comes off as a truly special song with a beautiful message.
The girls continue to explore different genres in their mini-album as ‘No Celestial’ takes more inspiration from pop-punk and rock. It’s such a catchy, addictive, and feel-good song. They really pulled off this style of music amazingly and adapted it to their own style. The pre-chorus is everything that’s good with pop-rock in K-pop. And after that boost of energy, LE SSERAFIM closes off their ANTIFRAGILE mini-album with a soft pop song. ‘Good Parts (when the quality is bad, but I am)’ is sweet, vulnerable, and so incredibly beautiful. It’s emotional yet hopeful. Its message of self-acceptance and self-love is so important, and the song serves as the perfect closure for this flawless mini-album.
It only took their debut for LE SSERAFIM to become one of the biggest and most memorable girl groups of the year. But with ‘ANTIFRAGILE,’ LE SSERAFIM are really telling us they’re not going anywhere, and we couldn’t be more excited. With a second mini-album that explores and mixes different genres, LE SSERAFIM proves to us that there’s nothing they can’t do and nothing to stop them any time soon.
