It still feels surreal to be hearing about Paramore’s forthcoming This Is Why. Thankfully though, watching its rollout in real time lets us appreciate everything we’re getting, and this new track proves it!
As you may know, This Is Why was announced earlier in September alongside the release of its lead single and title track. It came after a lot of teasing, but we already covered that here. Point being, what this album cycle’s been putting out has been keeping us on the edge of our seats for a while.
This new single, ‘The News,’ was announced a week before its release, and now that it’s here, there’s no way we’re turning it off! In classic Paramore fashion, it combines despair and angst into a powerful display of what life in the modern world feels like. As frontwoman Hayley Williams puts it, “Lyrically, it probably explains itself. The 24-hr news cycle is just impossible to comprehend.” If you’ve been on the internet at all these past few years, we’re willing to bet you understand the sentiment – we know we do!
With the release of ‘The News’ also came a music video, which can be seen below. It’s hard to put into words exactly why we love it but know that we do regardless!
Watching this new era of Paramore unfold feels like watching a flower blossom again, and we’re here for it! From the album itself to its tours, the band’s future only looks bright from here, and we can’t wait for what’s next!
