Ruel fans are arguably the most patient (they’ve been asking for this album for years), and they are finally being fed with his debut album, 4th Wall. This will be the Australian artist’s first major project since the 2020 EP Bright Lights, Red Eyes, and by the sound of his new single… it’s a great year for music, all thanks to Ruel.
‘MUST BE NICE’ is a melodic walkthrough of the aftermath of a breakup. Ruel has constantly had the talent of not only showing his emotion through lyrics but the way he presents them with his voice. His voice cracks throughout the track do nothing less than pull on your heartstrings.
“[MUST BE NICE] would have to be one of my favourite tracks on the record. Lyrically it’s such an easy song to grasp, essentially, it’s just about a break up… when you see the other person getting on with their life, it hits so much harder. I feel like the lyric “fuck it must be nice” captures that perfectly.”

4th Wall
Ruel’s debut album, 4th Wall, releases on March 3, and we’re counting down the days! On social media, it was revealed that the tracklist contains 14 tracks, 9 of which we have yet to hear. Plus, the album includes previously released ‘GROWING UP IS___,’ ‘LET THE GRASS GROW,’ ‘YOU AGAINST YOURSELF,’ ‘SOMEONE ELSE’S PROBLEM,’ and, of course, ‘MUST BE NICE.’ After having these songs on repeat for the past two years since the 2021 release of ‘GROWING UP IS___,’ we cannot wait to finally have the entire project.

Ruel has been working for the past 3 years on this album with M-Phazes, who’s worked with the likes of Khalid and Noah Cyrus. Expressing his excitement on Twitter, we can tell this is a big year for Ruel, and we’re incredibly excited for him!
